    Omega Speedmaster

At home and bored like many others on the forum.
I thought I’d take the opportunity to find out more about my watch and what insert/bezel is correct.
    Model number 145022 -74 ST
    Movement 32202***
From what I’ve read it shouldn’t have an accent insert but that’s about it!

    I’m new to Speedmasters...

    Thanks in advance.

Link to...The Quick And Dirty Way to Buy (Well, Check) a 145.022.

    Then...145.022-71, 74, 76, 78.

    Lastly...the rest of that site.

Nice watch. Yours should have the bezel which was used throughout the '70s. It has taller text for the TACHYMETRE, a dropped tip on the top of the 7 and no accent. Google 'straight writing moonwatch' and you should get the correct pattern. Like this one:

Thanks for the link! Useful for me and my 145.022-69ST.

Thanks for the replies, that’s my mid afternoon reading taken care of for today!
Yes, always helpful to know more about a watch you own.
I gave a SM with 321 movement to an old work colleague several years ago without knowing what it was....
I really don’t want to see it again in case it’s an ultraman or other such rare piece

Has your watch currently got no bezel at all?

It had an aftermarket insert stuck in place and no bezel.
With the correct parts am I looking at roughly £600 or closer to £900?

You cannot buy any new Omega parts from Cousins UK, Ofrei, or any other supplier any longer, unless they have old stock. However, none of these will have any stock, other than the current pattern, post 1990, item, if anything at all.
The correct bezel for your watch is not too easy to find, but still doesn't command the price of the earlier 1960s bezel, which would be at the top end of your suggested price, even for one in mediocre condition.
For yours, you should be able to pick one up for £500, possibly less if you're lucky. The alternative would be to buy a current style, used bezel as a stop-gap, in the knowledge that you could sell it on later when the right one turned up.

    Great info!
    Thanks again.
