Does anyone remember Matchbox Sea Kings:
They had little wheels underneath so you could sail across the floor
The Corgi reissues are pretty good, some come with the figures:
But some like the Kojak reissue is just the car:

My vast collection, just the one Corgi, the Aston Martin.
I remember the Odd Job sprang in to the coal fire on my first in the 60s.
The Matchbox camper and Landrover because I love them, the Lomas ambulance because the factory was where I lived when a boy.
I like those little Matcbix size Dinky aeroplanes

Ok.... here’s some of mine... I’m sure I’ve got some other ones somewhere or other but I can’t find them at the moment. For instance , I know I have a nice original boxed Batmobile somewhere or other and it's really irritating me that I can't find it.

@Village.
A fabulous collection!
Love that they are originals.
This thread has proven to be hugely enjoyable......and hugely infuriating!
Somewhere I know I have the Corgi model of the German Sdkfz half-track rocket launcher with trailer (the trailer held the red missiles for the rocket launcher).
I went through the shed yesterday convinced that it was in one of the boxes and....it wasn't.
I had to tell Mrs Gunn that I was having a sort out, so now she's asking me where the stuff to throw out is
@village - what a wonderful collection. I remember my father bought my brother and I that German Polizei VW Beetle. For years after that whenever we saw a police car as we were driving along we would shout "Polizei!" In fact I think it only stopped after we went on holiday to Llandewi Brefi in Wales.....after which we would intersperse the occasional "Heddlu!" as well.

Fantastic, nice one Village.
I also have the little mobile camera van, or at least I hope I have - I don't recall seeing it for years. My grandmother gave it to me as a birthday present, probably in 1969. That's the first time I've ever seen a pic of another one.
Very nice. Do you have the white Lotus Esprit as well?
I had a fair number of these, all long gone except in my memories.
Did anyone have the Daktari landrover, with Clarence the cross-eyed lion? I used to love Daktari.
Not a Corgi, but a Dinky, I was hoping to show this alongside the same battered knackered childhood toy I had in the early 70s, its buried somewhere in the kids toy boxes, I found this at a car boot sale some years ago, exactly the same but unused and boxed, was amazing to see it as it would have been new, I still remember losing the torpedoes on mine as a kid.
Cheers..
Jase
Excellent - so many people these days don't know the programme Daktari. We've got two Red Burmese cats which are actually a sand colour, just like lions. Therefore we decided to give them lion names. One is (predicatably) Simba, the other I named Clarence - he hasn't got crossed eyes though..... I remember having a Daktari Land Rover when I was a kid but I don't recall ever having any of the figures from the programme.
I love all this stuff
I recently acquired a birdie and Doyle Capri from the professionals
Looking to add the jag and Capri from Minder
They aren’t cheap - but I’m going to put them on display when I get the box room sorted
Just to add my two 'pennorth.
I'm a child of the sixties so all my toy cars reflect what were the current models at the time.
Certainly not as immaculate as most, but they have definitely been played with as is their raison d'etre is it not?
A Corgi Studebaker Golden Hawk and a Dinky Volvo 122S.
My army vehicles are strangely in much better condition.
I'll do some more pics if anyone is interested.
Love the Golden Hawk
Theres a very nice looking refurbished one in eBay at the moment - if only I had some spare cash!
In addition to the gold 261 that I had in the mid 60's around 1970 I had the silver 270 version with revolving number plates and rear tyre shredders
1995 saw Corgi re-release a close copy of this as the 96655
Although there are some rather optimistic prices being asked for these on eBay its still possible to pick up good examples in mint condition including the window box which is also a close copy of the original
Heres is the one I picked up recently
By this point all of Corgi's models were being made in China, down to a price and it definitely shows in the quality. The body moulding is inferior to the earlier Britsh made cars - look at the door shut lines and how the fade out and the general lack of sharpness to the detailing. The front machine guns only pop out about 1mm, the rear bullet proof screen is tricky to put back down and the ejector section of the roof is wobbly and wont really sit level.
A good illustration of why the earlier cars are much higher qualiity. I wouldn't normally bother with one of these but I thought that it would be fun just to have one anyway.
I remember having this one but my favourite was a white E type Jag made by Spot-On I think.
The bonnet lifted and the doors opened to show red seats.
The others I remember are a Buick Riviera, Ford Cortina Mark 2, Triumph 2000 and a Ford Zephyr, the Dagenham Dusbin model, all by Corgi I think.
I also had loads of matchbox cars and airfix kits.

What a great thread.. thanks for starting
AS a 60's child I too still have boxes of mine and my brothers old toys in the loft.
They are all original and some (most) are in a sorry state having been properly played with as a child.
I also have a couple of large 'TONKA' toys, in particular a dumper truck with hydraulic lifting flat bed, and also a crane.
I have quite a few matchbox cars, and a number of the popular toys I've seen above.
I'll have to dig them out over the weekend and take some pics.
On a side note - does anybody remember the 'Johnny Seven' ??
Mike
I like the Cooper Maserati best
A boxed one of those would look good in my cabinet!
Another one I ordered a while back that has just arrived. I never had one of these back in the 60's but wanted to complete a trio of TV series Corgis - Batman, The Saint and with this The Man From Uncle
This Thrushbuster has been renovated well and I got it for a very good price at eBay auction. Repro box and Waverley's Ring which is too small and fragile to get even my smallest finger into but looks the part. Possibly the nearest Corgi came to a 'Carry On' double entendre model. If Canesten cream had been on the market in 1965 they could have done a product and marketing tie in especially with the tag line Gunning For Thrush..........
Napolion Solo looks as though he may have lost at least some of his toupe in the car chase

Some of the late 50's non suspension models without internal detailing are beautiful things like this 1959 Thunderbird (214)
I managed to get hold of this near mint unrestored one in original box last week. In fact I have been gathering quite a number of others - just waiting for another two to arrive and I will post some pictures
And here’s another one!
M.G.B G.T
All original box and model. 1967-79 so quite a wide production window.
This should have a small suitcase in the boot which I’ll have to track down.

I like that Thunderbird and the Land Rover. It's really irritating me that I cannot finding my Batmobile. God knows where I've put it.
Thanks to the lockdown and more time on my hands than usual I have been able to get my collection pretty much how I want it

Nice collection ^^^^^
Dont you put the other models you posted in the thread with these or do you keep them separate?
You've been having a spend up!
Nice to see the Studebaker in another colour. I like the T-Bird too.
I remember having the original catalogue you have framed. Were all the covers the same ?
Some of these are lovely.
I have an early Batmobile like yours but in a rather played-with condition. Needs some TLC. Perhaps now is the time.
