I wore this when I went to post a letter today.

To be honest I am now extremely uncomfortable outside my house,I couldn’t wait to get home.

    Yesterday’s arrival for me
It’s rather small in comparison to a CWC Diver.

That sure is a nice Hamilton. I only wish that they had put drilled lugs instead of fixed bars because I really don't like Nato's or Zulu's, but that is just me.

Cheers it’s one of my favourites.
Fixed bars on an Issued watch make sense because you can’t loose the Watch. I would take fixed bars all the time if possible but I tend to wear NATO’s on virtually every watch as I find them comfortable.
I have a 1980s issued US Hamilton (also on this thread I think) these have removable shoulder-less spring bars but it does not have drilled lugs which means you have to cut the bars out anyway should you want to change the strap from a NATO.

One option is to get open-ended two piece straps with metal clips. This type of strap is pretty secure but can be changed. Not how military watches were worn in the field but many watches used to have fixed lugs anyway back in the day.

This is a random example from the Internet.

My Smiths W10 shown earlier in this thread has a similar strap, just because I prefer the look to the correct one-piece canvas strap.

I’ve had fixed bars converted to spring bars before. Didn’t cost much.

    This one today

I am beginning to loose count of how many of these Ive had - however this is the first one with a non polished case. I think that the lovely brushed case of the T20 has finally cured my of my fixation with polished ones

I’m not sure if this is ‘military’ or not but it certainly looks it!

Thanks for the info. I had seen these in the past and really didn't think about them when I made the post.

Some companies like Hisrch also offer open ended straps that you 'glue' together - the ends have the adhesive already applied and you just have to add nail polish remover to activate, then close the strap. You can get special clamps to help secure the bond.

I find the straps move about too much because the area the 'bar' fits through isn't very tight, so I paid to have mine converted to pin bars. The Hirsch ones though fit more tightly than the ones with metal tabs.

Great info indeed. I had also thought about having a watchmaker just drill the lugs and then it makes strap changes so much easier. Most of the watches I have had or have had drilled lugs.

Mostly expandro style bracelets or Bund style pads as far as I have seen in photos
The expandro was quite popular I think.

I found an 1970s Italian issued Breitling with

"It comes fitted with its original, Japanese-made expanding bracelet".
