    It’s a 1940 case, not a Luminor.

Enjoy then. Personally, I got out years ago when they crashed to ANother end of the desirable scale.

Hirsch Heritage - it came on a large scale alligator, but I wanted it a tad more casual.

Lovely PAM and nice picture. I like the 1940 cases a lot - perfect mix of classic, elegant and a bit sporty. Can’t get my 587 of my wrist.

    Beautiful watch and pic.
Can’t but pity people who base their buying decisions on perceived position on ‘desirability spectrum’.

Lovely photography as usual Tony. As much as I love their unique design, the purist in me says Luminor with crown guard at 44mm or above, and that’s a bit too much for my skinny wrists :(

We don’t see enough on the forum these days, so keep them coming

Cheers, all, and it’s a 42mm 512. Dave, if you really were a purist it’d have to be a Radiomir

Looked at the 512 recently and just loved it. In hindsight that is the reference I should have got, but I do love my 795.
Excellent picture, just makes me want one even more...

As always, sublime photography with catalog quality. Actually this is one of my favorite Radiomir models from Panerai, if I were a suit and tie guy, I would rock that one day in day out.
And the first chance it get, it would go underwater

I have exactly the same watch, but on black OEM strap. Would you mind posting another picture with more of the strap showing and perhaps the buckle also? Thanks

Yes, I have the original strap too - it looks lovely, but a little more dressy.

I don't seem to have a photo showing the the buckle, but here's a better one for showing the strap...

I did purchase that same strap, but felt the gap between case & strap end was more than the OEM Panerai one, shame as the Hirsch doesn't seem to age as much as the OEM.

Never noticed that, and not about to look for fear of OCD setting in!

Haha same issue with me, wish I never looked.

May just repurchase one and try and ignore it, much cheaper than the OEM.

Do have a nice Kodiak leather on mine, actually waterproof and a nice cognac colour. Suits the Luminor more than what the 1940s case would though.

I'm really feeling the Panerai love today, so thought I'd plot the path I've taken with photos. I need another one in my life to keep the 512 company!!!

    380

    233

    268

    337

    346

    512

Such beautiful watches - I really don't understand anyone not loving them

PS I do miss that 346!

A superb bunch of photos Tony. I suspect that your preference is the Radiomir.

    Brilliant pics of Panerais.
Could never get along with the wire lugs but the new case with standard lugs is awesome.

Thanks, Raj. Yes, the 1940 case is the perfect marriage of the two classic ranges; I held off for quite a while, but should probably have got the 512 in addition to, rather than as a replacement for the 346.

I'd say "live and learn", but...

It's funny, I really like the wire lugs! I definitely want to try the 1940s at some point, but it feels a bit more....standard!

Funnily enough I’ve considered both of those very seriously, but haven’t taken the plunge. Not really sure why.

Tony that's some excellent Panerai P0rn pictures right there, and more and more I'm leaning to those Radiomirs. The only thing that's putting me away is the fact that you have to unscrew, wind and screw back in. Yeah, I know, get the 8 day model

Exactly. They’re all very photogenic, though - especially the Radiomirs (IMO).

    +1

I know that the combination of manual wind and a screw down crown has historical precedent but it does put me off, photogenic looks not withstanding. I still think the Submersibles exude awesomeness, but the iconic crown protector is a bit desperate, viewed from a historical and technical perspective. I really should get round to owning one, at least once
