    A plea for your SOTC

    Hi all,

I think it’s fair to say that most of us have a bit more time at home than we normally have. In light of this, I’m hoping that we all might be able to pull together a state of the collection post. Not only is it a great opportunity to spend some time with your watches, it brings us all a much needed distraction from the drudge of remote working and the distressing news from around the world.

    So please, share away.

    Yours hopefully
    TPT

    Nice idea.

This week has put this hobby firmly into perspective but I still hammer the forum to escape the depressing news

That’s one hell of a collection - very nice indeed. You’re right, it’s a ridiculous and frivolous hobby in many ways, but we need to take our pleasures where we can.

Still close to my ideal, and would be in my 10 watches or less collection. Love it!
It's just a matter of time...

Quick and dirty, this is the core of it right now. There are a few oddballs and outliers in another box but these are the ten I count.

This is such a funny hobby. Whilst they are lovely, I wouldn’t buy any of them! (Presuming I could afford to. Which of course I cannot!)

No pictures and barely a collection at all: A CWC RN diver non-date (quartz), Omega FOIS and just ordered a Precista PRS-82 last Sunday. I prefer non-date watches. Plus 3 G Shocks, but they don’t count.

Q&D before bed. The Aerospace NM is off with Breitling hence the empty cushion, and there are a couple of G Shocks too.

Pretty much settled on these 10. Which 4 are keepers. Would love to add a Speedy 57 Trilogy but that will have to wait.

Great idea and a useful distraction. Some lovely watches here already. I wish my photography skills were better but is the best I could do with my iPhone.

    Nice idea for a thread.

I was intending to do a 'proper' SOTC soon, but in the meantime here are photos of my current collection. As you will see, I lean very heavily towards 44-46mm tool watches of various types...

    Breitling Avenger Skyland

    Breitling Avenger Seawolf II

    Breitling Navitimer World

    Rolex Deepsea Seadweller 116660

    Timefactors PRS-2 Dreadnought

    DOXA Sub 1500t Professional

    Offshore Professional Field Engineer

    Mühle Glashütte Seebataillon GMT

    Omega Geneve Dynamic

    Maranez Layan

    Steinhart Marine Chronometer II

    Lüm-Tec M50

    Divex Professional 200

    Seiko Prospex PADI Turtle

    DOXA Aquaman

    Bulova Lunar Pilot 'Moon Watch'

Bulova Chronograph C 'Stars & Stripes'

    All the best,

    Simon

    Thanks!

It's the Hamilton Intra-matic H38755381, with fume dial. No anti-reflective coating on the crystal, together with the curved dial and colouring of it make it ridiculously difficult to photograph.

    Stolen from Fratello:

Terrible lighting, but here you go. The Moser Heritage isn’t as small as it looks here - these are all roughly the same 42mm size...

I so regret having got rid of mine. I bought it new in 2008 but sold it to a mate for £100 when the 'Superior' version came out. I thought I'd prefer the Superior due to the 4R36 movement with hacking and manual wind but the dial never looked as good as the original IMO. Then to cap it all, my mate recently sold the original Monster for £230 on ebay.

That’s the smallest watch photo I’ve ever seen! Could I ask what the chrono, second from the left, is?

An impressive bunch and great photos Tony. All great watches in their own right, especially attracted to the GS, but you have to love how that Rainbow pops. I used to have the all black version, but they got the colours just right on that one.

I am with you seabiscuit. I don't have a picture of my one watch collection at the moment. The moment being no picture and I only have one watch but will be adding the Timor Heritage Field Watch that isn't due out until November, but that is good with all this chaos going on in the world. The one watch I do have is a Serica WWW WMB edition which is a hand wound movement and no date because that is how I roll.

Here are my watch boxes ... nothing particularly expensive or high end, and plenty of quartz, but it all works very well for me as a mostly sub 40mm "small wrist" collection :-)

The Timor reissue looks most impressive and I almost regret not backing it via Kickstarter. I looked at that Serica model a few times. It was only the screw down crown on a manual watch factor that put me off. That’s a cracking two watch collection you’ll have soon enough. Meanwhile I keep checking out CWC’s latest issues. The new manual wind model looks good value for £449.

I really Like that CWC Mellor-72 mechanical with the Sellita SW210 movement. Those Sellita movements are real good, had one in the Christopher Ward C65 diver and it ran within +2 seconds a day. As far as the screw down crown on the Serica, I had the same question and after a little research I decided to go for it and I don't regret it for a second. The crown on this watch threads in and out like butter, yeah it is that satisfying. I had a Hamilton Khaki and with a push/pull crown I would wind my watch twice a day but with the Serica I wind it once a day just because I do have to unscrew and screw it in so I figure I would leave it to once a day.

I am glad that I backed the Timor on Kickstarter and I got the Super Early bird, and I chose the manual wound Sellita SW216.

I guess I’d call this my modern SOTC as they are all under 5 years old. I have a few older watches as well. My first big watch purchase, an Omega Seamaster and a lovely Zenith acquired from Tony (LTF).

  47. #47

The Bathys and Aevig were both gifts so are safe but of the others the only thing I’d change is to swap the CWC for a Tuna I think.

Pretty content to be honest and I’m surprised how much I like the digi tuna

    Future plans

Not really looking to move anything. Could let the Stowa marine go maybe, almost did two weeks ago. Not sure yet on that one. It’s a lovely watch and not a big €€€€ value percentage of the overall collection but it really punches above its weight and gets a lot of wrist time. The only manual wind piece also.
The VC gets very little wrist time (only one on bracelet...); could let it go but it is irreplaceable as they are difficult to get (sadly that doesn’t mean they are appreciating to a fortune...hard to get and in low demand!).

Wish list is an ALS. A three hander from the Saxonia range or else an uncomplicated 1815.
