I am going to do 2 hrs on my road bike every other day, on my own as I always do. I need to do it as I have reversed my Diabetes for 4 years through weight loss and exercise.

Cycle shops asked to stay open

No way that would make me depressed. Doing 2hrs every other day on my own is showing total respect for the conditions

This is my planned routine, 30 sec on, 10 sec off x 3 reps, one circuit of Fitness, Strength, Boxing. Different focus areas (arms, upper, push, pull, all over, legs, abs). Aiming to do one a day but I know I’ll need a rest day or two in the week.

Put on YouTube and find old music videos from the 80s and 90s and get the kids up dancing to them. Keeps them active and hopefully will give them an appreciation of some real music 😂😂

Although being under house arrest feels a bit different, I've worked at home for about 8 years now, and my days aren't actually any different except that 'er indoors is WFH as well, now.

However I am wondering what an ethical distance to go out on a bike is.

True, but it only has to happen once to end up in A&E; and right now you wouldn't want it to that 'once'.

Received wisdom has it that most accidents occur in the home .. statistically, having cycled 21,000 miles without a mishap since Jan 2015 I'd say the chances of inconveniencing anyone are slight. There is a question of setting an example though, when the government advice is to minimise time spent outdoors.

    Still thinking about it.

I must have been unlucky then, (or just a crap cyclist!), as I've had one accident, (which convinced me to buy a cycle helmet - yes, I know), and was almost hit by a lorry which fortunately 'just' managed to stop in time - the driver hadn't seen me, (with right of way), on a roundabout, he was looking for other vehicles not bikes!
    Best Regards - Peter

    Very true.
I'm a paraglider pilot. Flying is a pretty solitary sport, we turn up at a hill, usually a large grassy slope. You unpack and inflate the wing. The wings are ~10m span and ~6m above us, so we probably want about 20m*20m as a minimum ground area to operate. The sport is the very epitome of isolation. I'd be an order of magnitude less likely to catch Covid19 paragliding than I would attempting to buy toilet roll.

But, the ground is hard, sub optimal landings result in a trip to A&E. You never know when that could happen. Accidents are rare, I have 140 hours over 20 years and have had one accident that left me with a broken leg & ACL / MCL damage. Per hour flown paragliding is only three time more dangerous than motorcycling (1) and we paraglide for far fewer hours than the average motorcyclist rides.

But now is not the time to burden the NHS with an unnecessary patch up job.

Which is a bugger, as it's an unusually good day out there right now.

A lot of that is true of scuba diving, too, although on boats we tend to get herded together in our kit before and after diving, but shore diving is pretty isolated.

As you said, though, now is not the time to burden hospitals with unneccessary injuries, so we're not diving, which is a real shame as the weather at the moment is perfect for it!

I used to supply Paraglider and Parachute fabric to various manufacturers. Only been up in a tandem Paraglider once in Mayrhofen. Pilot was telling me what he was doing I just wanted to look anywhere except down as I was royally bricking it!!

My daughter (+ wife) have done this for the last couple of days & seem to really like it.
Think it's good for kids to start their daily routine with some fun exercise - although my daughter calls it John Wick PE so I'll probably attacked by her later today!!

I'm doing that, which exercises are you doing? I'm using a 32kg kettlebell for goblet squats and one arm rows and a 16kg kettlbell for one arm press. Might rotate with pull ups and dips as I got an attachment for a tree in the garden. Should be good with Simple and Sinister on the off days.

I've been out in the garden (delightful weather) redoing a path to the shed that I put in too quickly when we first moved in. It was a bit lumpy and uneven (grass growing in gravel retaining grid -- trying to make the path nearly invisible). This way I get something done I wanted done, and work up a bit of a sweat.

As an aside. I've been chatting (remotely, using Microsoft Teams) with some of my students, and some find it amazing that I would be doing something as mundane as garden work during the crisis.

    Best wishes,
    Bob

Anyone else wearing the most outrageous things in their wardrobe to entertain themselves?

Please do, if it doesn’t match or is way out then please put it on to go to the shops and exercise we need more entertainers at times like these.

Shouldnt be too hard for most of us

I idly wondered where 'Kid Charlemagne' was on the list of great guitar songs. According to Rolling Stone (other lists are probably available), it's no.80, disappointingly low in my opinion.

Here's a link to the list if you wish to lose several hours chasing your favourites on Youtube:

A good list, I think I have most of those tracks.

Pleasantly surprised to see an old favourite of mine at 88. I'm glad they've not been forgotten.

That's a very good list, apart from the fact that I think that SRV should be higher on the list and I'm always wondering why Humble Pie is not on this sort of lists.

Thumbing through the old games with the sprogs I rediscovered my teenage years in its remastered form. I think I'll be trying to earn the other 366 achievements.

That and paint my Space Marines, the army has already doubled in size.

She's tearing her hair out and the kids are probably going to kill each other but I was made for staying indoors and not talking to anybody! :D
