Pause sky sports and get bill reduced - thanks gavsw20

Per the discount sky thread and raised by Gavsw20 (well done !!) you can now pause sky spots and get the price off your monthly bill until live sports re starts.
Should be automatic but is not. You need to go into the mysky app.

    Brilliant thanks.
It’s at the top of the page as you open the app - super easy!
It automatically unpauses once the sports start up again

I wouldn’t expect so, as you are only pausing your subscription.

Surprised they haven’t got it on the landing page of the physical box when you switch it on.

I'm trying to do this as I type this, either their site is busy or I'm not trying very hard, all I'm getting is the blue circle going around and around etc etc
    Anyone else done this recently.

Site is overloaded I think. I left it for 20mins in a queue and just did it 10 mins ago.

You can also do this by calling the main Sky contact line and follow the automated instructions.

Those who say you don’t lose the discount you might have, I was told you end your Sky sports contract by pausing it.
When the footy, F1 etc start again you need another sky sports contract & this has to be negotiated?
At present I pay either £16 or £19 for all sports inc HD pack & ultimate Q pack this is currently big jump up from the advertised £42.

That’s not the impression I get from reading the words on the website. Pausing is not ending.

Initially the notification on site was you could only phone in to pause, the advisors then were saying we can't pause only cancel.
Once they started the online pause it worked correctly and paused the sports for 2 months.
You can check how they've done it by looking at future bills on your account.

I’ve been trying online since yesterday and it keeps telling me there’s a “technical issue” and to try later.

Not sure that this is correct.
I have paused Sky Sports & when I look at my future bills on the Sky App I can still see the current discounts applied to the Sports Pack - shows as coming back on-line on estimated June bill.

I was trying to pause my Sports over the weekend (like most people I guess), and was met with the spinning blue circle as demand peaked. Got a message to say that they were having difficulties but would process the pause in due course. Just checked and credit has been applied to my account for Sports.

Tried a few times today & got "Unfortunately we can't process your request online right now"

I'll keep trying over the next few days - can't be arsed to sit in a phone queue.

If you're a Virgin customer, they've now added the Sky Sports 'Pause' function at www.virginmedia.com.
