Kirk congratulations to your ,middle daughter. Its been a tough two years on school kids with lots of negative upheaval. Im sure you will join her in saying she will forge new friendships at the new school. I know mine did, and the those friendships have been more durable and they still meet up today 15 years on after A levels.

    Cool

Iím away next Thursday for a little holiday in the Alentejo region of Portugal. The first holiday in a year! We will also be picking up our biometric ID cards from Lisbon, which have taken over a year to be processed. Hope to see a bit of the city too.

All pre-brexit residents (we got residency in March 2020) are aimed to be processed by end of year so authorities are cutting it fine.

I`ll make one in tonight if I get an invite, usual Thursday evening drinkies trip has been rained off, buses are too unreliable to risk getting soaked in the rain.

Social events are like the proverbial London buses as this is the second invitation I've had to turn down tonight. Curry and beers came first. Sorry to be missing tonight.

The absentees missed an entertaining GTG, as ever the conversation took some unusual twists, aided and abetted by messrs beer and whisky as the event proceeded. Stepdaugter's Labrador (Ozzy) made a cameo appearance, he had a doggy sleepover and clearly wished to be included.

Kirk is otherwise indisposed tonight, but offered to host.

I could’ve sent invites, but I’m out of sorts with (non-covid) cold/flu symptoms, so wouldn’t be in for long.

So I think it may not happen this week.

    Apologies.

Next week I have our works Christmas dinner - so I may not make it, but rest assured I’ll raise a glass …or two.

It would be great to have some newcomers along. Just post here and join in the fun. Last year we had Janet in his Mrs Clause outfit - what will happen this year - nobody knows!

I've been thinking. Seldom a good idea.

I think it would be fair to say that our erstwhile beloved leader Kirk280 has his mind on other things just now.

So I was looking at alternative arrangements.

I was wondering how far the Unclealec finances would tumble if I were to purchase a Zoom licence. Not as far as I thought. £120p.a. to be precise. A mere bagatelle in comparison to the delight of your company and the amazingly educational aspect of regular GTGs. This gives us 100 participants, 30hrs per meeting, for 12 months, and other facilities that I don't think impinge on our requirements.

    Whaddya think?

My car club Zoom meeting (licence owned by the club, not me) has a permanent link and the same password each time. We "meet" once a month, 3rd Tuesday, a reminder email is sent and those inclined turn up, those disinclined or unavailable don't. An announcement/reminder is posted a day or two beforehand, not containing any meeting i.d. nor password, with an invitation to those who haven't attended previously to send a PM in order to receive the i.d & password. All regular attenders will have been provided with the i.d. and password via PM previously; it would be necessary to save these details somehow for repeated reference each month.

    Would this fly?
