A great vGTG as always, thanks Gents.

For those of us lucky enough to live near Manchester, there may be a mini-McrGTG social event, either Saturday 18th or Sunday 19th December.
Details to follow, and covid rules allowing.

(We might call it a cheese and wine work event).

With a bit of sober reflection a mini McrGTG might not be the best idea just before Christmas - two of my Daughters currently have covid (they are fine) so it would probably be unwise for me to meet you in a pub.

Shall we “rain check” the idea until the New Year?

Kirk sorry to hear about your two daughters. I sincerely hope they are both well and make full recovery.

Lastly look after yourself and your other family members, remember, one of the common symptoms of Covid is feeling “tired”……………….Ill get my hat

Sorry to hear about the girls and glad they are fine. I expect they are treating it, like my son is, as an extra long Christmas Holiday. He was heard to say that this Covid thing is easy. Had to remind him that not everybody is as lucky as him

On a different topic are we going to have our, now annual, v-CGTG? I'd like the opportunity to dress up (no, not in the way Jane did last year).

The 2nd vGTG Christmas extravaganza will take place Thursday 23rd December.

    Dress code: black tie
Dress code for Walkerwek1958: sexy Santa outfit
Drinks: cocktails. Feel free to share recipes in this thread.

All are welcome! Zoom details to follow next week (when I get round to it)

  18. #868
Would love to join but I will be at my BiL’s with the family and I will not have my black tie with me. Well, if Boris still let’s us fly home this year!

I don’t wish to make it all about me but I’ll see what I can do to join for a bit. In any case here is my cocktail suggestion to keep you guys going as time gets on

    Espresso Martini (serves 1)

    In a cocktail shaker add:

    2 teaspoons of sugar syrup.
    50ml Vodka
    25ml Kahlua/Tia Maria
    1 espresso shot
    Ice

Shake and pour into a martini glass and decorate with 3 whole coffee beans

Can’t guarantee to wear the santa suit, Mrs W has first call on it and it looks far better on her than me. However, I won’t rule it out at this stage.

As for cocktails, I’ll give that a miss, beer and / or whisky will have to suffice.

    I’ll see about attending.
I’ll dig out the dicky-bow - but damned if I can find the tux after moving house

drink: suggestions snow-ball or pink-gin - though a dry martini is a favourite.

    pink gin:

Express the oils of a lemon peel over the drink and drop the peel in if you like.

Add 1 dash of Angostura Bitters to a mixing glass filled with ice.

Swirl this bittered ice and water around in a cocktail glass.

Dump out the water, leaving the glass with a bitters rinse.

Back in your mixing glass, pour a "large measure" of gin (2 ounces is good) and fill it with ice.

Stir well and strain into a cocktail glass.

Do you have an old grump Santa suit on standby?

Looking forward to seeing if the tux still fits after another amazingly (in)active year…

Pornstar Martini for me (I can live in hope).

2 ripe (crinkly appearance) passion fruits, halved
    60ml vanilla vodka
    30ml passoa
    1 tbsp lime juice
    1 tbsp sugar syrup
    prosecco , to serve

Sounds like a Boilermaker is the drink for you.

Or even a Hard Shandy if you like wheat beer.

If you want to get fancier why not try one of these:

    It's Bitter To Be Hoppy

    Ingedients

1.5 ounces Single Malt Scotch Whisky
    .5 ounces Aperol
    .25 ounces Fresh Grapefruit Juice
    6 dashes Lemon Bitters
    2.5 ounces IPA

Ounces? WTF are ounces doing with liquids and yes I know about fluid ounces but it still never a makes sense! You blooming Imperial lover!

On a different note as my trip back to Blighty has been halted by the need to quarantine for 14 days on our return to Germany. I may now be available to attend where you can all tell me how much of a cock I have been on the COVID thread!

    Merry Christmas!

Reminds me of the time when I had a proper job, working with chemical processes from the USA, converting lb. moles and US gallons to kg. moles and litres.........happy days!

(Uncharacteristically early) I have just sent the zoom invitations. If you didn't receive one and would like to attend please drop me a PM.

It would be good to see some new faces on the call....and some old faces that we've not seen for a while! Where have you all been hiding?

Will Walkerwek dress as a 'sexy' elf this year?

A great virtual do last night Gents, Lammylee’s black tie outfit was inspired. We were just missing the festive badger!

That was a very rare appearance on camera! Massive thanks to all for the encouraging words about her artwork, which really gave her a boost.

I completely lost track of time! Yes I could organise one if there is demand.

Dry-ish January here though so I'll have to put up with you all whilst sober!

I've heard it prevents bird flu. Along with a taking a couple of parakeetamols daily.
