    Virtual TZ GTG. . .

To promote social separation, but also keep the forum spirit alive: I propose hosting a vitual GTG via “zoom” online platform.

    prerequisites

a computer or mobile device with audio and visual capabilities.
a willingness to share thoughts and musing on watches
maybe a couple of beers on hand

Who would be up for it?

You should have been there last night OP - the first virtual McrGTG via zoom! (See thread in the G&D).

It worked well, and was a good laugh.

Count me in for future events.

    Indeed!.

Worked well, bit of light relief and and great laughs in stressful times!

    Up for it.

Seems we have a few interested. Let’s say next Thursday 7:30pm. Anyone interested send a PM with your email.

You can use your phone, tablet or computer. https://zoom.us for client / App downloads. You can test your audio and visual via

    https://zoom.us/test

    hope that helps

    Martyn.

I've had a few interested - get a virtual pint ready and maybe a watch or two to to hand and have a bit of banter - all without leaving your own home! Do PM your email and I'll send an invite.

You need to download the zoom client and allow access to your video / speakers - if you haven't got it already when you press the meeting invite. You can even join on your mobile device as there is an iOS App or Google App for Zoom.

    Just a bit pf fun...

    Zoom Meeting:
Topic: TZ Vitual GTG - March
    Time: Mar 26, 2020 07:30 PM London

Sounds like relief from social distancing, any limitations on numbers?

No - though seeing 100+ faces on one screen may get a bit difficult!! If you'd like to join in - PM and I'll send you the details.

quite a few have signed up. I have no idea what this will be like. To prepare My suggestion is:

    1. Have a device with video and microphone - those invited can test their equipment at https://zoom.us/test - you need to download an app or client software which should happen automatically - allow app to access camera and mic.
    2. If you like have any watches with you to share with the group.
    3. Have a can of your favourite brew to hand.

Treat like a virtual pub meet-up - treat others with curtesy - have a laugh, nothing too serious.

I’ll open the meeting at 7:30pm London UK time.

if anyone else wants to join just PM and I’ll reply with details!

    Martyn

Hi Martyn, this is a great idea.

Have you got a full zoom license?

Just checking as I think you only get 40mins if you’’re on the free version and there’’s more than two participants in your conference.

I have a free license and it works perfectly.

For free you get 40mins limit if there are three or more people joined - a limit of 100 can join the call. But on todays meeting zoom kindly removed the 40min limit for free anyway and we stayed online for a little over one hour.

Worst case - you can just stop / start the same meeting for 45min calls - which allows for comfort breaks!

Well I really enjoyed that Gents. It would be good to capture everyone’s usernames on this thread to aid my shocking memory!

    Ps. Thanks for organising Martyn.

That's not hard, I'm not setting high standards! :))

She received a watch at her baptism (tiny, old pocket watch), from a good friend, a fellow WIS... :)

    Count me in as well!

As for the little one, I can send you a recording of her yelling (not crying, yelling, that's what she enjoys), that might dampen somewhat the interest :))

Martyn - can you say a bit more about how Zoom removed the time cap - did you know about it in advance or was it an unexpected bonus?

It was unexpected bonus during the call - I had a pop-up message saying time limit had been removed.
