On line resources to reduce boredom for the self isolating

For others on here that are having to self isolate some may be interested in this:

    https://www.travelandleisure.com/att...-virtual-tours

Personally, I have no problem self isolating as I don't like mixing or interacting with anyone other than my family and I have lots of solitary activities to keep me amused however I know that a lot of people will find it claustrophobic and boring.

Perhaps it would be helpful if some on line resource suggestions that may be of interest to others could be posted here?

    Just a thought.

How about a bit of DIY, Gardening, model making (Lego/Airflix), video gaming, jigsaws, learning a new skill - I am attempting knife sharpening, online gambling, or simply binge watch TV serials.

Alternatively you can get fit, go for walks/runs, take up yoga, etc. Lots of useful stuff on line.

I have also down loaded quite a few audio books which I can listen to whilst doing stuff.

If all else fails then try Pornhub.

That sounds like a great activity when self-isolating I think the whole point of self-isolating being you are stuck at home (unless the walk/run is akin to taking a car for a spin in the driveway :) )

    Depends where you go.

I am home for a month now after my wife was discharged on Thursday with pleurisy and a non-cv19 respiratory virus. As she is also a severe asthmatic I now have little option but to isolate as well and take care of her.

One of the perks is I can go for a bike ride every morning and a decent walk every evening. Sadly it's unlikely there will be a lunchtime ride as it would just be too tempting to pop into the coffee shops.

I am not really concerned about meeting people out in the open air, and on my 10 mile morning ride I expect to pass maybe 4-8 people.
Walking a 6 mile version of the route earlier I passed about the same number, but it's not like we were ever close to each other.
In open spaces, Parkes etc that I cross, there is plenty of room for all and the rest is quiet lanes and riverbanks

I've done a few courses on FutureLearn - the resources & teaching are excellent (UK university backed and presented) Theres a very broad range of subjects and the general programme is free. Great if you want to advance a hobby or interest into something deeper.

How is that self-isolation given the context? You are going outside and putting others at risk.

In jmitch’s case he’s isolating to prevent infection rather than contain it, walking or riding in isolation as he describes seems a reasonable risk given the minimal sightings of other people and the lack of contact with them.

What do you perceive the risks as?

I’m quite happy taking a walk on my own. A time to think and contemplate without the constants drone of others. That said I live in the country.

Plus to self isolate, all you need is to keep a couple of meters away from others and not go licking door handles, etc.
