    How come you are surprised?

Governments across the globe have spent unprecedented amounts to make sure no company goes under because of Covid. None of the airline and travel companies would have made it without government support. Hotels, restaurants, movie theatres would have almost all folded if it wasn't for cheap state-guaranteed loans or outright subsidies.

Debenhams was in trouble well before the start of the crisis, and would probably have gone down possibly just as quickly. on it's DC, there may be Covid but as a comorbidity, not a COD.

Debenhams went into administration in April last year, they didn't fold because shoppers stayed away for 3 weeks. They folded because they couldn't pay bills.

I guess I’m surprised at the level of support the various governments have put into the sectors you describe... when it all started I expected many businesses to be forced under.

Absolute insane amounts of TSLA calls being bought with maturity tomorrow, gamma gamma gamma squeeze. Same for 07 May maturity.

Who is spending all this cash on trying to prep up the stock? Manipulation in plain sight.

Does -1.85% = getting killed these days ...?

Seems we see more bigger days presently (in both directions) ...

Not so much the size of the move but the nature of it. Impressive increase in volatility.

They had enough, this is no coincidence. Gold falling $20 from day's high to day's low in three minutes on super high volume.

Coinbase now down 40% from the launch day. Microstrategy and Argo Blockchain down 50% from their tops three months ago.

Maybe sanitiy is making a comeback?

Oh, you were correct. The quarterly 'leaked' email from Elon came today: https://electrek.co/2021/05/06/tesla...-this-quarter/

Did cause a quick spike to $690 pre-opening, but fell like a stone after market open.

I would also say that RIOT is currently a very good buy at $32ish.

No idea why the miners like MARA, RIOT and ARB are all dropping today, when Bitcoin is steady.

Fell into this trap, sold my long S&P and gold position, was good for a day and now both popped to upside.

I still see a very meaningful correction very soon, but this wasn't it. Frustrating when you are chasing whipsawing markets from the wrong side.

    Better take a day break.

Once again the electorate surprises me ... Torys expanding their reach into MORE former Labour heartlands ...

Usually the by-elections are an opportunity to remind the government they don't have a complete free hand ... but it seems they do; and typically that is good for big business ...

Don't think Elon is capable of not saying dumb stuff.

It's a live show, so anything can happen. Either they really take him apart on stage, or he does it himself, or he does a blatant pump, or is incredible boring and unfunny. Or all of the above. Should be interesting.

VET up another 13% today, my good friend became a millionaire a couple of weeks ago from an initial 50k deposit.

Crypto is genuinely crazy but there is real money to be made in the short term.

He hasn’t withdrawn any, he said he’s waiting for it to hit a pound to withdraw. At that point he will be a multimillionaire.......

Or it can all go bang and he ends up with nothing.

I haven't done a million but a few hundred thousand. It's 20% on your profit made. You get £12,300 tax free capital gains ( x 2 with the wife) hard to avoid unless you sell OTC as coinbase or binance will inform hmrc.

In short your man's mate above will pay 20% on everything above 75k

I do agree. But a lot of my friends have been telling me to get out since 2017. They all said in 2018 they would of got out at the top back then. I've had to listen to them tell me how they would have cashed out at the top. Now when they tell me they would cash out now I can say, you already did.

I have taking money in chunks this year. I have around £200k left. But I always said this time round I'd get out when every numpty on Facebook is in. But it's harder than it sounds.

I'd at least take back the principle and 30% profit, roll it in to something else, leave the rest to run if he thinks there's more upside. Sod the diamond hand bravado.

I found it just a little awkward when his mother appeared and neither of them are clearly masters of the Autocue..

Maybe we all need a little more understanding and tolerance of what Asperger's and Autism are in general and how they affect peoples lives who are just wired differently.

Should we all be a lot less cynical and mind set in our ways to what we may perceive as "Normal"

Clearly Musk is very much on the spectrum and has achieved greatness with his thinking which may make many feel at times that he is like a James Bond villain but it is because of his thinking that he has achieved what he has..

Every action and Tweet he makes can be misconstrued in whichever ever way we choose to suit our bias and we live in an crazy era of social media when it seems it is anything but social and seemingly Twitter has become portal for the deranged.

I find him interesting and look forward to watching his career progress

i often imagine how individuals such as Einstein.. Galileo and the like would have been perceived if the internet had existed would they have received the same attention with their thinking.

He seems less Aspergerey when doing Tesla promo/ product launches and on that smoking a joint clip though I'll admit I've seen very little footage of him. Maybe I'm cynical but this seemed like an attempt to humanise/ sell himself to a wider audience...Aspergers aside, the pump and dump/ manipulation of dog coin should still be looked at.

It will be difficult to prosecute the pumping of Doge as it's not regulated. But what happened at Tesla will be the focus of more than one criminal investigation, and it will begin next week.

He is going down for being the huckster that he is, Asperger's or not.

I regret not getting on the doge train as there have been some crazy gains over the last few months but I have always tried to stick to projects that actually have actual use cases...slow and steady and all that.

I wasn't aware we had much of a crypto community on TZ !
