When stocks rebound, WHERE best to invest?

Market looks set for a strong move up - might be choppy short term with daytraders re-allocating money from recent winners to the r/WSB names (GMR, AMC etc), but surprised if we didn't have a go at S&P500 4,000 level.

Been loading up on cheap SP call options.

Call option buying completed (first buy at 3,925 and then again at 3,915).

Now the market better go up.

I'd say, let him! As long as he understands limits and that "once it's gone , that's it." A good lesson to learn early, and if he does well, you'll not need to buy him a house.....

Why not indeed? Hopefully he won't find a way to place leveraged trades though...that could be a very expensive life lesson.

Let him do it. Take an amount from his future pocket money and put it into an account. Or agree on another way he can pay it back (20 times washing the car?). He needs to understand it doesn't come for free.

I would also agree on a periodic review of activity. Which bets did he place, why and how did he perform. What lessons learned from mistakes, etc.

I would be very interested to hear how he is doing and how the journey goes. May daughter is unfortunately too young, she is only six.

I think we'll look into it later once his home lessons are done for the day, looks like I'll have to set up a custodial account for him.

He also says there are several discord servers with hundreds of thousands of investors on each and the Reddit account he looks at has 1.3m members all following the tips, some of these "tips" get traction and away they go bucking what Wallstreet does.

When the first crypto wave hit a few years back, I was in some pump and dump groups. What I found was that the admins and the core group would have already loaded up on the stock way before the signal to pump and when the signal was given, they would start dumping right away. Given the low liquidity of the coins they were pumping, a lot of people were left holding absolute shit when the buy demand dried up so I tend to stay away from these coordinated pump groups now

That looks like it's not going according to plan. But then, Tesla is coming down nicely so that short is paying (at least partly) for the SP500 loss.

Still, not a very good day to close a good week.


Edit: closed the Tesla short at $715, kept the SP500 long. Let's see which direction this goes.

10 year Treasuries still on the march. Now close to where it was before the March 2020 crash.

Dollar strengthening. Gold suffering as a result.

All a recipe to reduce stock prices, especially high growth stocks. But how have the markets reacted? Of course they've gone higher.

If the 10 year treasuries carry on the way they are going, it will be like boiling a frog.

That could have been me saying this.

Ended up being an ugly day, with many of the small caps selling off into the closing. My position was fairly hedged until I decided to close one position and let the other run. Wednesday's knee-jerk and yesterday's XOLO-GME rally have damaged my extremely high conviction into my short Tesla thesis, Yesterday evening I had opened another position in $500 puts, but it immediately tanked when the GME rally began, Tesla was trading close to $750 early this morning and I was afraid the new position would become a total write-off - so I was happy when I got most of my money back during early afternoon. Obviously the puts became real money makers after I sold them.

Maybe take tomorrow off from trading, resetting the mind for next week.

Even in my limited knowledge it feels like the Tesla balloon has a hole that is getting bigger, a lot of air has been pumped into it in yet it just can hold itself up.

We have had almost 12 months for strong gains ... in that context the current few % seems a minor pause for breath ...
