FTSE100 up 11.8% over the last couple of weeks ago.

Never understood the markets and never will.

Never seen anything like this. Huge rotation out of COVID winners into rest of market.

Just cancelled my NQ sell order, this is too crazy. Just sit on the sidelines.

It always looks so obvious after the event. Haha.

Should have known that news of a vaccine would have this effect of the likes of IAG, TUI, Cineworld - etc.

You gotta ride it on the way down as well to be fair...

The rights issue on IAG now looks like a good deal, but could just as easily fall 20% tomorrow, crazy times

The exuberance seems over done but then that is no surprise ...

The vaccine announcement also highlights some logistical issues and hedges on long term effectiveness but no one reads past the headlines ...

Never underestimate the power of relief rallies. That goes tenfold for double-relief rallies. Just saying.

Not a good day to be only in gold and silver.

Here’s a lesson in passive investing.......When all the text books say “never do anything!”....they really are correct.

I’ll hold my hands up and say that as it stands today, between mid March and right now, I’d have been better of doing absolutely nothing and just leaving my pot sat there entirely invested in Vanguard LS80, rather than meddling.

Im sure things will improve again....but I suspect that this will be one of those days that they’ll talk about “being in or out of the market” on, in years to come.

Me too ... my meddling has cost me quite a bit but it did also buy me quite a bit of calm during a difficult period.

I'm down financially but suffered less stress through some of the darker periods but I can swallow that.

I wasn't so invested during the sub-prime crisis and so didn't feel the issue so much and the issue was less pervasive than a global pandemic ...

Still can't figure out why all this is suddenly ok ... still lots of business that are absolutely floored and the levels of government debt is eye watering and yet the party goes on ...

I tried to buy some more SMT this am and it failed on HL so i tried twice more. It has now gone through 3 times! I'll be livid if the stock tanks before HL will let me in again to trade out as the site is crashing

Tell me about it, I was nearly 3k down at the start of the day and at +97% I was £5.5k up

Couldnt do anything about it though as 10,000 of my shares are rights which are not coming though until the 12th November... Crazy day..

Volatility on index futures is absolute madness. Every recovery attempt in Dow futures is met with heavy selling, frequently gapping 20 to 30 points.

Still think this is turning higher again, better buckle up when it starts moving.

At one point Today I thought I may get out of my Rolls Royce position without taking a bath.

    Nope.

Once my rights issue shares hit I shouldn't be in too bad a position with it anyway.

Some winners and a couple of losers Today

Did well with Codemasters although it didn't hit my sell order price.

A positive day for me anyway

Bought a chunk of BP this morning pre-announcement which was nice, but silver position has done some damage today. Selling out of Rolls Royce at 120GBp pre-right announcement was single worse trade I've ever made. That bugger has cost me a stack. Win some, lose alot on the rest.

I think the 12th Nov is the day that the rights are integrated with your current shares..

Just need Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine to come through as approved now, and Brexit to get the hand shake

    Wow.

I cancelled my sell-order at 29,575 because I was getting greedy. Watched it blow out at 29,620 and then collapse. My trailing stops at 29,444 and 29,455 saved me.

I've been on the sidelines for months, except for four U.S. airline stocks that I bought when they were down 60-70%. Not wanting to get left on the sidelines, I just placed orders to buy three 5-star growth funds that have been performing well. Not enough $$$ to really hurt me if "the crash" happens.

I almost picked a fourth fund...until I saw that 45% of their money was in Tesla!
