You're not hitting it hard enough
Trying to refit the plastic window surround - swapped an old frosted window cassette out for a clear, and I’m buggered if these edges will go back in as they came out!
It looks like they’re too long!

Bend it and put the ends in first

Physically bend it into a bow fitting the top and bottom corners into the profile.
Then just use a mallet to tap the rest of the bead in .
Is the new double glazed unit slightly thicker or maybe the seals are? This would have the effect of pushing the top and bottom strips outwards and upwards and effectively shortening the space for the verticals. Looks to me like it needs to be trimmed.
If you are bending it out it onthe radiator for a few minutes. Old ones can be brittle.
Leave it as is and put the nets back up, after a week you’ll have forgotten about it.

Are you sure that's the left hand trim, and not the right hand?
Put top and bottom in first and tap it towards the middle with a none marking glazing hammer. If not take the bottom one out first then put the shorter one in before you put the long one back.. you may have more play to get it in!

You may have the top and bottom in correctly
Take the unit out and put the bead in without the glass so you can see where it fits in
Thanks all - will have another bash tomorrow on all of the above!!
