New collaboration between Luminox & Bear Grylls just announced in my inbox:

They've been out for a while and are pretty ugly IMO.
I have no special sympathy for BG, even if I believe that, overall, his presence has helped to get more youths outdoors.
And yes, staying in a hotel when pretending to rough it out did not exactly enhance his reputation.
But I believe he is innocent of the charge of bringing an action against Bear knives. Lawyers, working from the firm in charge of his merchandising, did that.
He actually stopped the action.

Just a note to say that although the original request from Bear’s solicitor was reported in the press. What was not reported is that the knife maker contacted Bear over Twitter and the issue was resolved without any need for rebranding.

Is it a good watch? That's all that I care about. I don't care who it is endorsing a brand or watch so long as the watch can hold its own.
You just knew one of those pictures was going to be of him looking like he'd just come out of a swamp. Yawn.
He may not be entirely honest about all of his history, but he is at least consistent.

2020 with Luminox
He has aged quite well. Must be the mud facepacks.

Walter Mitty watches for Walter Mitty himself!

He never had the makings of a woodlore bushcrafter

Hmmm not sure that’s correct. Yes military & privileged upbringing. But reading his autobiography he’s certainly done more than you & I along the adventurous route.

I am merely stating my position. Beckham being ambassador for tudor does absolute diddly squat for me. Doesn't make the brand attractive, doesn't put me off it. Others are free to feel differently. Companies put a lot of money into their Christmas adverts, but I've yet to watch one. Just saying I prefer to buy the product not the image. I'm sure I'm not alone.
Some of his gerber pen knives are of reasonable quality. As is his collaboration with craghopper clothing. Good quality. He has made the outdoors more appealing to some of the younger generation (I am a DofE leader) especially with his honorary position as head scout.

If stranded on a desert island or in a jungle I think I would rather be with Ray Mears.....
Looks like he’s on loo in Luminox photo !
I’d have Ed Stafford over Ray and Bear any day!!
The whole family love watching the various programmes that Ed does. And I wouldn’t suspect him of popping into the local hotel in the evening.
The recent series where he takes on an ex special forces guy for a 5-7 day escape is superb.

Lewis Hamilton syndrome strikes again on TZ.
The Mitty thing probably refers to his links to the SAS, which he was a reservist for (21 SAS, the Artists Rifles), and not a full-time serving member of the SAS itself. Although this is widely known now, it was not made clear that he was a reserve in many of his initial biography pieces, which inferred that he was just SAS.
At least he's more credible than an actor advertising a pretend British Forces issued watch. :)
Strikes me as a bit of a knob tbh

I seem to recall he was clear it was the Reserves. In any event, tougher than most of us here, and I know there are some tough fellas here.
Walter Mitty? Not really. Just some dubious marketing advisors.

I think he's a perfect, an absolutely perfect match for marketing Bremont.
