Tonight is a full Moon, so let’s see those Moon Phase watches.......

Without doubt one of my favourite complications on a watch, I know there are many out there that wouldn’t agree but for me every collection needs at least one. The moon has always played a major role in man’s movements and daily existence, from the ebb and flow of tides to religious ceremonies, crop harvests, maritime navigation etc which is why it has always been historically important to keep track of its orbit....

My current favourite is this Omega Speedmaster METAS 9904 movement variant that deploys a photorealistic image of the Moon on a metal disc that is so incredibly detailed it shows the Moons craters and valleys as well as the footprint of Buzz Aldrin, (obviously not to scale of course). When you combine that with a METAS movement, Liquid Metal Bezel, 100m water resistance and a watch that is anti magnetic to 15,000 gauss it actually surprises me that this model isn’t popular, personally I think a Moon phase is the perfect accompaniment to ‘the Moon Watch’.

Which ever make/model I think the Moonphase is a nice addition to the dial so would be good to see some more....

    Great picture from the Watchtime review;

…. And a rubbish one from me.

Good idea Steve - Adding a picture of my 5146J Annual Calendar from today:

Happy full moon - it's the first Super Moon of the Year (Full moon that occurs near or coincides with Perigee) This moon is known as the Worm Moon as it is the last full moon before the spring equinox which marks the start of spring. It is named so because the ground begins to warm (in the N Hemisphere) and soften and earthworms begin to appear on the surface of the soil.

    Cheers all.

I believe that’s the most beautiful Moonphase model I’ve ever seen, surprised you let that go Marcel.

I decided to go quartz for a moonphase, as I figured it'd be too much of a faff to reset it on a mechanical watch.

Stop trying to make me feel bad Steve 😂
As you know, everything has a shelf life, but I would certainly consider another GO with a moonphase. One of the panomatic range perhaps

  17. #17
Not much chance of seeing the moon last night with all the clouds about. Here's my moonphase, I went to a load of effort to snag this and I still love it (although it has to be said I hardly wear it these days).

Why did you have to do that? I have been avoiding this place for ages, saw this post and now I have my eye on a regular Oktopus in Portugal!

Much like last night it should be a spectacular ‘Pink Full Moon’ tonight so if anyone else has a Moonphase it would be good to see them.....

    Yep, full moon forecast!

Second hand is moving every 4 seconds though, so I guess it's time for a new battery.

It’s 39mm with the the guilloche dial indeed. I’m pleased u share the appreciation but it’s a keeper I’m afraid and took me ages to find this one with full set and mint.

I don’t blame you, as I mentioned earlier in this thread these are amongst Zenith’s finest creations and the guilloche dial is incredibly rare these days.

    A couple of mine:

The Patek’s moonphase appears basic when compared to the Lange

But both not as basic as my photography skills.
