That would be a real shame. Don’t forget though more than half the show is for gems and precious other trinkets - not just watches. I would guess the show would go on even without watch brands.

I for one hope it continues, rather than peacemeal launch events scattered around the globe haphazardly..

Good article here on the impact of coronavirus on the watch industry:

The slowdown of sales in Hong Kong and China may see a long overdue shift of focus to other long overlooked markets. This will maybe see increases in availability of previously harder to get watches from the bigger brands but sadly I can see a minimum of a dozen companies going bust over Corona. Romaine Jerome is only the first of many I fear.

A lot of IG profiles are showing new Seiko and Grand Seiko releases today. Do we think these are the Basel releases and they've chosen to announce anyway? Two links below.

Is it me or have the prices gone up substantially?

€8k+ for a titanium dress watch SBGW259 seems a little unlike the GS we once knew?

As i have an interest in cars also, I have noticed Youtube over the past few days has been inundated with "first look" videos about all the cars that were going to be shown at Geneve.

It's literally a constant stream of new car videos. Perhaps the watch world will follow suit?
