    Clive Cussler - RIP

I haven't read him in a while but in my teens and early twenties did enjoy his Dirk Pitt yarns.

Me too, we used to read the Dirk Pitt novels when working on the oil rigs.

Used to read his books avidly back in the late 70s & 80s. Read some recently again.
Though not convinced about bringing in other writers and widening the franchise ( like Ludham, Wilbur Smith etc), bit really enjoyed his early books....Raise the Titanic.
He spread awareness of the Doxa brand.

    Sad loss.

Value of yellow dialled Doxas set to increase.

Great writer of ripping yarns (especially when on holiday).

I always envied Dirk’s car collection, home (and his good fortune with women)

    RIP.

Like others I read lots of his books years ago. Wasn’t Dirk Pitt’s Doxa orange?

    RIP Clive

Hopefully now we’ll get a decent film franchise going. As long as Tom Cruise doesn’t buy the rights.....

A lot of why I got into watches was because of Dirk Pitt and his bloody Doxa!

Cussler received one as a leaving gift from an early job hence his hero wearing one.

Read all the novels up to the mid-2000s and kinda tailed off with the new lines being added. Good yarns!

    RIP

That's a shame. A good innings all the same. I used to read his novels back in school. They weren't great literature, but they were great fun, and when you're a teenager studying more challenging works for your English GCSE they're a perfect escape during a lazy weekend or half-term.

First I've heard of his passing.

Have read and enjoyed most of his books over the years.

    RIP Clive.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Some of the co-written books are utter garbage, but the early run of Dirk Pitt books are terrific. Sad to hear he's gone.

It was indeed, I bought an orange Sub 300 a few years ago, because of Clive's excellent Dirk Pitt books. RIP Clive.

Another fan of the early Dirk Pitt series here, an easy entertaining read.

    RIP
