    If you had 50k ...

I was lucky enough to find myself in this position a while ago and purchased a Platinum Daytona with diamond dial.No regrets.

Very nice. This is what makes the Tudor currently on the SC so attractive. OP, could you confirm the bracelet ref. on this please, as I have the same Tudor and would love an Oyster bracelet.

A Ulysse Nardin Freak in yellow gold or a Laurent Ferrier Galet micro rotor.... Or a Voutilainen.... Or an Fp Journe.

Actually a good thing I don't have 50k to spend on a watch...

There’s easily been 50k of great watches on SC in the last week, you could fill your boots with some stunners.

Not sure of the price today, but Mr Voutilainen makes a very special watch don't you think. The Vingt-8 used to be about £50k.

The ALS Zeitwerk has been mentioned a few times but if you were seriously consider one, I would urge a measure of caution. Obviously you would buy grey or used because market prices are so much lower than list price but if you then were to need a service, at a minimum of 5000 Euros!!! Personally, I wouldn’t touch one with a stick.

    >10% of the value of a watch in service charge is quite usual. It's also a pretty phenomenally complicated watch!

It's important to note the nature of this thread though - it's if you had 50k to spend on one watch. That's a pretty high bar! For me to spend that amount on a watch, I'd already have to have a ludicrous amount of surplus cash. In which case, 5k for a service would likely seem really quite reasonable.

First watch that popped into my mind when I seen the question, all these new dressy/moonphase complications are not for me, £50K on one classic vintage watch is where I'm at.

Seems I'm surprisingly cheap, but then no surprises to those that know me!!! :0)

LeCoultre is my fav and even at this price I'll only ever get one if the lottery comes in or someone buys one for me (hint, hint!!! )

If I was spending £50k on a timepiece it would be a simple, three-hander VDO, complete in its original early '70s setting, courtesy of Ferdinand 'Butzi' Porsche.

Tell that to those that bought Newman Daytona's, Milsubs or full set Comex SDs etc. at that sort of money.

    I think I’d go for an AP 15407ST or a Patek 5172G.

As I have an AP15400 already the Patek may win though.

That Daytona is the pick of the watches on this thread. (Well, in my humble opinion).

This would be my 50k pick.... The Gronefeld 1941 REMONTOIRE Eight Seconds Constant Force. In white gold.... Almost 51k Euros... Although taxes have to on top of that, so I'll take it in steel if I have to! (Theoretically of course)

    https://www.gronefeld.com/collection...ainless-steel/

The case back view is what gets me on this....

Maybe one of Jo Siffert's Autavias. Most of the stuff on this thread looks like it's been hit with the ugly stick.

A minty Floating Gold Zenith Daytona. The rest on a set of new carpets for the Porsche.

I don’t know what’s wrong with half the people on this tread. Aim for the stars boys and girls, surely it’s OK to dream about having a good few grand to throw on a watch if your numbers come up??
Very easy one for me this is something I think about a fair bit. It would be a Patek Philippe 3940, probably in rose gold. To my eye, pretty much the most perfectly proportioned watch there is.
Oh, and a decent winder, and an old Datejust as a beater.

Its a difficult one. 5K on a service is ridiculously high. But the watch is DAMN complicated. Its basically a remontoir d’egalité with 4 jumping digital displays, including a minute digital display. And all that with legendary movement finishing. Its actually "reasonable" from that perspective....

I'd go all out and get a Richard Mille RM028 - you can pick them up around £50k on Chrono24. If I had some cash left over, I'd spend it on wrist enlargement surgery...
