I’m sure the watch is beautifully built, but I’m finding product placement in films puts me off the watch.

That's lovely in so many ways, but the crows foot? Why?

Mind you, it's a good excuse to post:

I wonder what excuse they will come up with this time to show a full screen shot of the watch to satisfy Omega higher ups.........

I like it but don't care for the skeleton hands at all.

I'm not a huge fan of the the 007 branding on the back, or the huge helium escape valve ...

It doesn't seem very special to me, it's very nice but just another seamaster to me.

looks a nice watch, but it just seems too expensive to me.............

I alway thought Omega's were in the £3,500 to £5k price range...........and even £5k seems expensive for an Omega

Well I'm pretty sure Omega are paying a pretty penny for it!

On to the watch - I find it amusing the comments about the watch reverting back to aluminium insert so it can 'patinate'.

Looks a bit naff to me and that broad arrow is awful.

I'll stick with my old versions.
    Cheers,

That is quite remarkably ugly! It looks like some sort of amateur frankenwatch, with various decent components randomly assembled! The original SMP is such a classic - why f*** it up like this???

So boring my heart nearly stopped!

Why don't they just cut the crap and re-issue the 2254.50 with ceramic bezel, screwed end links, Glide-lock clasp and Coaxial escapement with display back.
Make it come c/w bracelet and nice rubber strap also with glide-lock deployant clasp.
    BOOM drop the mike and...

Oh yes, and don't mess it up by making it any bigger than 41mm

Least attractive Seamaster ever as far as I'm concerned.

I like it. Looks good on the mesh or nato I reckon. If the price on them bombs I'll be waiting!
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

That’s a comment I don’t get at all, Omega are superb watches and IMHO superb value compared to a lot of brands out there.

The HEV on an Omega is as bloody awful as the cyclop on a Rolex.

As someone with an Omega 2534.50 and a Rolex 114060, I have to say I agree with you.
    I also don't like:
    • Omega skeleton hands
    • faux patina
    • mesh bracelet that doesn't fit the case

Looks fine except for the colour scheme and price tag. So basically mostly everything that matters

Yep, agreed. Especially don't like the new cup cake shape.

THE manual HEV valve is awful, other than that the new seamster is a belter, this variant particularly so.

Coming to a 40% off sale sometime after Xmas.....

Omega:so Daniel how would you like your new omega to look?
Daniel Craig: like this vintage milsub I wear every day..
    Omega: oh....

Its actually a lovely watch, but 8 grand and the packaging is laughable. You get the same on most microbrand watches.

If it comes with a snug fitting pair of pastel blue speedos, I'm in.

I personally very much don't like it, though I really like the standard Seamaster, particularly in blue. I think the Omega offerings were probably at their best with the 2201.50.00.

I think that it looks OK, except for the hands, price and the HEV. I have a ceramic SMP (pre-latest wavy dial), and I would change the hands, add an exhibition caseback and either move the date to 6 or not have a date, so no date is a plus for the JB. I won't be buying one because I am a pauper, I already have a SMP, but most of all because I can't get my head around why people buy film-themed watches. It's like wearing a team football top, you aren't going to get called onto the pitch to fill in for the striker. JB won't rub off on you from the watch. This is not meant to be offensive. Your money, so you choose.

Unfortunately, this style of Seamaster looks quite dated and there are others in the back catalogue that are far more attractive (Seamaster 300). I realise Omega need to try to build some model continuity to compete with Rolex Submariners but this is not the model to do it with. They also really need to stop just throwing in an HEV with every watch with a bezel. Especially when their HEV design is so lacking in sensible engineering or aesthetics. It a pointless feature they should just stop.
