So I always agonise and procrastinate over smart boots for work. Anyone have any recommendations?
Steelies for site or Chelsea for the office?
It will depend on your budget. I have two pairs of Loakes boots, one black and one tan brogue and they have seen me through every possible work scenario.
RM Williams, not the cheapest but smart, hard wearing & repairable if need be. I've still got a pair from 2004.
Cheaney make an amazing boot and shoe. I have 3 pairs now, one pair for over 20years and they are second to none.

May be slightly over budget...
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
My RM Williams are still going strong after ten years.
Another for RM Williams.
RM Williams for me, probably the most comfortable shoes/boots I have and even after 10 years of regular wear for one pair, still fine for work and come up close to new with a good clean and polish.
Might be why I now have 6 pairs...
Depends on purpose.
I just bought a pair of Altberg P3 Peacekeepers for wearing on my job.
Best investment I have made for ages.
Can't go wrong with Crockett & Jones. Alfred Sargent also make some nice boots.

Currently has an extra 20% off at checkout - worth taking a look.
No idea where they sit in the grand scheme of shoe things, but I’m a John White kind of guy. Been buying Chelsea boots like these for the office for years now.

This. I can’t remember the last time I wore shoes with a suit. Extremely comfortable too.

Thursday Boots. I have a pair of Captains.
They're probably the best value boots around. Have a look at the online reviews.
Thursday boots are lovely, but unavailable in UK.
Loake and Herring in the UK are safe bets.
Comfort and pull on convenience.

Are they that much more comfortable or convenient than loafers?
This is what I wear for office work in a factory, or for a "posh" night out.
Decent steel toe cap boots, which will be relegated for use as construction site work boots once they wear in.
They are hefty and sturdy boots, and I am not sure they could out run a cross bow over rough ground.

The comment you asked question about referred to R.M. Williams boots, which are pull ons.

What do you suppose “This” referred to?

Bought some Red Wing rigger boots whilst in States, lovely boot and even great for everyday pottering about the garden etc. Always had Jallatte riggers but last 2 pairs have been poor experience with sole coming apart from fairly new so maybe not the quality of old
