Good idea to start looking for a 60s Abarth!

This one was sold at Sotheby's for > 43,000 euros. A little under the highest estimation of 50K. They're small cars and a lot of barns are big and untouched. Perhaps...?

As far as I know (please correct me when I'm wrong), Abarth -and not Fiat-Abarth- managed to double the hp from the 500's engine. I remember the days when I was a kid, seeing numerous souped-up Fiat 500s with all sorts of add-ons, pretending to be an Abarth... Funniest thing was the lid on the back always ajar for additional air cooling! NSU did the same. The car shown on the Sotheby's pics has that ajar lid as well. Note the expensive(!) Nardi steering wheel.

Not just another Fiat Abarth repo, but a very original 695 Arbath.

Carlo (Karl) Arbath was a genius, who should have similar recognition as that of F.Porsche and C.Chapman. He managed to get 112bhp from a 998cc normally aspirated engine in the mid- 1960's!

    Very clever chap.

The Italians love their Cinquecentos. I don’t think there is a real Abarth in this lot but I think any 500 fan might enjoy it. A treat for me when they appeared unexpectedly.

I really like these cars, thanks for posting the video.

Abarth was definitely old-school: "I'll just drill this out here here, add that there" but made it into an art form.

It's hard to imagine these little cars racing against American V8 and blowing them into the weeds at many SCCA events. In fact they did it 51 times out of the 53. In the end the SCCA banned the 1970 1000 TCR.

Forget Ford Vs Ferrari, this is a much better story.

None too shabby against a 500bhp modern either!

You’ve missed the boat for original Fiat 500’s and Abarths by at least 10 years.
