    Vintage Poljot help

A friend, who's not a watch guy really, has spotted this on ebay and asked me about it...

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254505026182?ul_noapp=true

Looks decent to me and I know Poljot are interesting watches with some history.

What I don't know is how much they're worth or what a good deal would be on this?

Can anyone tell me about it? How much would be your max bid for an item like this?

    Thanks,

    Toby

It's the classic old Strela style and that looks like an exceptional example. I'd expect it to sell for around £600+. Prepare to spend much more if it needs a service - spares for the old 3017 movement are increasingly difficult to get hold of.

Alternatively, has your friend seen the more modern reissues with the Poljot 3133 movement? Cheaper, more reliable and easier to get hold of parts. There's also a version with a Chinese Seagull movement but I'm a Russian watch snob so bleurgh.

Lampoc is correct, one of the iconic versions of the Strela there and I expect the valuation to be spot on too.
A modern reissue version is way more practical if he’s not a vintage watch collector.
    Cheers..

    ^^What they said
I have a 1979 Sekonda badged one as a daily wearer (for the last 7 years: it elbowed out the rest of my watch collection :-)

The 3017 movement has no shock protection, so some would see it as an occasional piece, or opt for the 3133 or ST19 reissues instead. Julian at Poljot24 is a good source for these

Personally I wouldn't bid more than £500 with a seller that doesn't have 100% feedback but they are heading upwards and that appears to be in great condition.

You should be okay. I haven't seen any sports models for sale in my local watch shops for years.

3017s in nice nick are getting harder to find.

My attempts at speculation with a few 3133s were a washout though. I think everyone had the same idea when they ceased production in 2012

    Teehee...

I think that £500 is about right at the moment for a very good condition 3017 other than the rarer cyrillic Strela versions and the very hard to find sterile dial.
