Smartphone recommendation for my mum - age 75

My dad passed away in November leaving my rock of a mum alone - she’s putting a brace face on - but like all of us - missing dad.

She’d like to receive pictures and videos - nothing flash right?

However, with her old Nokia she doesn’t even know how to send a text!!!!

I figure a smart phone will be easier as keyboard pops up on screen etc?

Does anybody have any input on what to try?

    Budget approx £100

Sarah and I have had 4 Moto Gs between us, my mum is still using my old Gen 2 one.

£100 won't get you a new G but look further down in the Moto range, the e6 is £99 direct or look at a refurb G.

The phones have been reliable, have a fairly standard Android install and offer a good price / features compromise.

Have a look to see if Doro do anything that fits the bill.
My mum is slowly converting to using a mobile more and the old man even sent a couple of emojis last week

Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk

If you (and those your mum want to talk to) have iPhones then an older iPhone is just fine. We got my mum an iPhone before she passed away which let her stay in contact with us via facetime and iMessage.
Before that she had a Doro flip phone which was ok, but when I looked into getting her a Doro smartphone it seemed to be nothing more than a skinned android phone with all the good and bad things that brings.

Smartphone recommendation for my mum - age 75

My Mum is 85 lost Dad 3 years ago - Mum happily uses iPhone 5 and iPad Mini with some support from kids and grandkids - maybe stick with the phone she’s got and get her a small tablet - I only use Apple stuff but I think there are some cheaper tablets out there.

    Sorry about your Dad.

They are very intuitive to use, so a good suggestion.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

She has no internet and no need for a tablet so going to try her with Dora smart phone

It looks like a souped up Android - she’ll be ok with it
If not it’ll go back on the Bay

Thanks for all the suggestions guys - much appreciated

A nice screensaver with a pic of my dad I reckon for her too

A phone with the same OS as you or whoever is going to help her use it has so they can talk through any problems over the phone with her easily - send screen shots etc.

Just setting up a new PC for my Dad and the first program to go on it was Iperius remote so could log in and fix problems remotely.

Don't underestimate the subtle differences just in saving a number between iOS and Android- intuitive enough to a regular smartphone user but hard to work out when their screen is subtly different to yours.
