One last picture before it's off to a new owner <sniff>

Had six Tuna's but now down to two, a SBBN037 & 031. The 037 will be looking for a new in the next day or so.

Considering the dimensions I'm finding it wears perfectly and is lighter than I expected on my 6.75" wrist. I can see how you lot get obsessed about these and there are so many variations it's like a WIS sweetshop. I can't imagine one would ever need another 'beater'.

My only question about mine is whether I should change the insert to a black one. Anyone done it what are your thoughts? Pics would help if at all possible.

Only if you can obtain an original insert for the modern tunas, but I would keep it original.

The aftermarket insert pictured looked pants IMO

I’m not sure I’d go as far as pants but I agree an OEM insert from the SBBN035 is preferable.

That black insert does look good on the 033.

Sorry I was not trying to be obnoxious (I am good at it though)
But the insert you show has the wrong typeface, wrong pip etc and as such will not look right in my opinion.
If you can’t find an OEM I would keep it stock - I prefer the stock stainless insert.
I have the all black version and the insert is one of the best I have on a watch. I would not change it out.
I am thinking about getting the all stainless version as well, I am that impressed with the watch for the money, it’s hard to beat them.

Honestly I didn't take it as obnoxious. I know the pip and typeface are wrong and am looking for something more suitable.

    Thanks for your advice.

David have you considered the latest Tuna, I think it’s awesome as do a few others on this thread. If ever it was possible a keeper in your collection, I think this would be it. Yes it’s missing the Marinemaster but to me it’s perfect, much prefer the hands on this version. Very high on my to buy next list.

    From here:

    https://uhrenarena.de/Uhren/Herrenuh...J1::21172.html

It was down from 1500 EUR to 1199 EUR, so, here I go ;)

No kanji, it's model S23629J1 (ENG, GER date wheel on mine)

For kanji (I don't use it, so no loss for me) you shoud go for model SBBN045.

Both S23629J1 and SBBN045 are made in Japan, difference is just second language on date wheel.

Go for it, legibility in from another world, as is the lume !

Thanks I found that after I made the comment. On reflection I think I'd prefer to stick with mine as I prefer my hands and having the MM rather than X branding on the dial. Plus in terms of cost vs value the new one would be around £150%+ of what I paid for mine.

Managed to pick up an OEM insert so correct typeface and lumed pip. However, can I hell get the insert out of the bezel!! Why are jobs always difficult!!

Does it press out upwards or downwards?

Pushes out the front, I've always used a cheap case back press when getting them out on previous tunas.

The steel insert is thick and sort of clips in so you'll need a press to put it back in should you want too

Thanks Bob, I've managed to get it out without damaging it. Phew!

This is not it is it?
    I don’t think that’s the correct typeface
Check the ‘10’ - that’s correct for a 7549 but later versions had a tick on the 1 - I believe (I could be wrong’
    Look at your original

You're correct but I'm happier with an OEM insert than an AM one and I have the original steel to keep the original watch intact. Nobody other than a Tuna aficionado would know the difference.

Please don’t shoot the messenger, I write this only in the effort of making sure you are not mistaken or have not been lied too. (Anyone is entitled to do with their watch as they please) but…
I don’t think that is an original OEM 7459 inert either
Looking at other images on the web, your new insert and the originals are quite different.
As I say not as a criticism, just pointing it out in case there has been a misunderstanding
If you don’t care ignore me

Sorry it's probably me not explaining myself very well. I bought an original Seiko insert for a 6309/7s26which is the correct size for my watch. I knew it wasn't the correct insert for the SBBN as they're only available a complete bezel and insert set. So I chose to have a genuine Seiko insert that isn't correct for the watch.

    Does that make sense?

But I’m sure that’s not a ‘Oem’ insert - it will have a recessed pip
It looks to be an am one
