It's amazing to think that Spartacus was made 60 years ago.

    Great actor, great innings. RIP.

    An astonishing innings!

As someone who lost his mother while in my early 30's, and about to lose my father in my 40's, I cannot conceive as to what it would be like to be 75 (as Michael Douglas is) and still have a parent alive. His mother only died four years ago, when he was 71.

    Incredible.
So clever my foot fell off.

I guess that's going to be 'possibly an alleged rapist', as no-one ever (as far as I can tell) filed a complaint against him.

Of course, that might have been because he was 'too big to fail'...

He was a cracking actor and from a dirt poor beginning too.
Gun fight at the O.K. Corral is one of my favourite westerns and ranks up there with Spartacus in his performances.
His Doc Holliday to Burt Lancaster's Wyatt Earp was immense.

The whole rags to riches/American dream right there. Amazing story even before he got into acting. His family will have been expecting it but it's never easy. The Vikings if only for the oar jumping was a classic. He will have known everyone from the Golden age of Hollywood. Who's left, Tony Bennett?

Great actor in two of my favourite film noirs, Detective Story and Build my gallows high.

His biography The Ragman's Son is a great read.

    An incredible innings.

    True Hollywood Great.

Spartacus, Lonely Are The Brave, Paths Of Glory, and my pick, Ace In The Hole to name but a few.

I know Olivia De Havilland is still alive. Any others from the Golden Age?
