    Dear Jon

I have been spending my time answering your queries on old watches and now I find you are actually a watch dealer on ebay with a feedback of 2441 (!) thanks to your link under your sig.

So in essence I am just helping you value your stuff so you can sell it? :x
    Cheers,
    Neil.

FWIW, I don't think it's sly given that he's linked to his ebay page on his sig. But I don't know what conversations passed between you.

Well it's sly to link to his own commercial venture using miniature text.

    Re: Member ktmog6uk

first, a thank you for letting me back on the board.
secondly i am not a watch dealer, i collect and buy watches and sometimes sell them as many of you do buy not commercially and i certainly do not make a living from it, ask my bank manager and my credit card company!
as regards my ebay dealings, if you take the time to look closesly a few points will emerge.
    1. over 50% of my feedbak is as a buyer not a seller.
    2. although i recently have been buying and selling some watches on ebay, MOST of my feedback relates to music not watches, i buy a lot of music on cd and have been selling lp's on ebay for over 6 years, i even have music on there now. probably less than 20-30% of my feeback of 2400- is watch related. i didnt realise i couldn't link to my ebay page and will remove it if it hasn't already been removed my the time i post this.

i am no watch dealer , its an expensive hobby. i buy many more than i sell but occasionally i do sell some - ones that havent grabbed me and ones which have to go to keep my collection at a managable level, the same as most of you out there. i simply love my relatively newly aquired hobby and and still a novice in many areas, my knowledge of many older watches and watch makers is only sketchy and i recently asked about a couple of brands -as with all collectors curiosity about value is a big part of it- in one of these i was made a cheeky offer by another member i responded, this seems to have helped get me pinned as a mercenary just using other member knowledge for fiscal gain. not the case! i responded bacause i'm a bit skint otherwise i wouldn't even consider it. and also many posts have been about football!

i hope the board can accept all this as i am an enthusiastic but newbie supporter of tz-uk and its ideals and i was very shocked to see this topic and to initally be thrown off without any way to defend myself. once again thanks to admn for letting me back in to reply

Welcome aboard anyway - you'll find this is a friendly forum if you respect everyone. How about you put any watches up first on here and then on ebay if you don't get any interest.

    The final decision is Eddies.

We are a good crowd on here some have been here for a few years, many friendships have formed and lots of deals are done based on this. Casual visitors and new people who see the forum as a free sales window are usually given a firm rebuke - this is about sharing a passion for watches. Please contribute any and all thoughts - discussions range all over the place and many hours are lost browsing here :) .

    Let's see some pictures

    You cheeky sod!

    Reactionary person!

I didn't have you thrown off, in fact there was no dialogue between the admin and myself.

You got yourself thrown off by your own actions.

BTW There was no debate between us, just you posting pics and wanting to know history and valuations.

I try and help you out and that's the thanks I get!

you accused me of being a dealer and quoted my ebay feedback without analysing it properly or simply asking me! .i was away from my pc for a while, i do work for a living you know and by the time i came back to the forum i had been banned and couldn't even log in to defend myself. my queries were general - i like and own uno watches but can find nothing on the web about them at all- questions about valuations were as part of a larger debate and not the point of the post, just the usual collectors curiosity about value , have you never watched antiques roadshow????
i have been watch collector as a serious hobby only for about 2 years and in that time have spent about 20k on watches and maybe recouped about 5k.

if Neil has been answering many of your questions and you haven't been voicing any thanks for the help, don't use this banning incident as an excuse for the lack of common courtesies during all the prior interchange.

A pity: the guy was really getting himself out of the hole but suddenly he´s back to it. If reactionary sounds as bad in english as the spanish simmilar word, that was nasty. Why not just say "I am sorry, I was wrong"? Been here for less than a year, never had problems, and when I had some misunderstanding, I just said sorry. We do not come here to fight for our pride, but to relax and forget the battles of daily life.....But I apologise in advance if I offended anyone..... :bom:

Well said Jose, although I'm not sure if I accept your apology

As a little aside to Jon, Neil has helped me out enormously over the years, always answering my daft questions with grace, good humor and enthusiasm, oh and a bit of piss taking too when I deserved it . I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has benefitted from his huge horological knowledge. Although you two seem to have got off on the wrong foot, I know with a little common courtesy and humility you can sort out your differences. Come on guys, they're just watches at the end of the day after all.

    Cheers,

    to all
i am happy to put this to bed, what annoyed me was the fact instead of contacting me, wrong assumptions were made and this thread started before anyone had actually pointed out privately any errors or protocol breaches i may have made, and then when after talking to eddie and being reinstated i found the follow up by the thread starter was still doubting me and then had a go at me for not posting thanks for his information. i couldn't thank anyone- i was banned. i say again, the reason i hadnt come back with thanks for information given was because i was banned from posting! i just think it could have been handled better.
that said i don't hold grudges any am happy that i have now said my piece and am happy to let bygones be bygones and start afresh with everyone. if i did wrong i am sorry, if i breached protocol i am sorry, if neil was in anyway offended it was not my intention but i was damn angry!
i am happy to participate in the forum and welcome all debate, i will be posting plenty of watch pictures and yes asking questions after the weekend when i am back from wembley (go leeds!) and sober enough to type!

I agree Griswold. :) I believe the problem lies with folks diving into the forum without grasping how things work here. Little initial courtesy seems to be shown and once the self moderation kicks in then the sparks soon fly. A little studious reading of the forum would prevent this I believe.I'm not fanning the flames of this spat BTW, my comments are more general. A couple of new members have bitten the bullet and settled in, others dug their holes ever deeper and are now in Australia. That's it, my 2p worth.

I'll echo the above. And the request for some pics ..
