Looks like I'll be working out of my firms Birmingham (city centre) office Monday to Thursday for 2 to 3 months (maybe longer) so I'm after recommendations please for:-
Nice pubs serving good beer.
Restaurants for an evening meal - Indian, Italian, Thai, Chinese & Steak all good options
Vintage / Pre-Owned watch shopping.
Thanks in advance.

I'm there regularly, staying and working on Broad Street. Last week I had a good Indian at Barajee on Broad Street:

I like going out in Birmingham city centre. Some parts are a bit ropey, much like most other places.
For restaurants I like Siamais (Thai) in Brindleyplace;
https://siamais.co.uk/
The Canal House is a nice pub, with outside space which is nice when the weather is good. Gets busy though;

Im in Brindleyplace quite a lot so if you’re near and fancy a pint I’ll keep you company!

For beer, go to The Wellington on Bennett’s Hill - old school pub, but fantastic range of beers.
Asha’s on Newhall Street is good for a curry.
Adams on Waterloo St has a Michelin Star, but does fixed price menus.
Pete
Balti Triangle. And all those midweek Aston Villa matches...
"A man of little significance"
Andy good beer
The Wellington Bennett’s Hill
Old Joint Stock Temple Row
Old Contemptibles Edmund St
Brier Rose Wetherspoons Bennett’s Hill
Curry
Hen and Chickens Indian Pub Constitution Hill
The Barrel Summer Lane
Both above £5 taxi ride and the most authentic Indian food you will eat and cheap
Vintage watch shopping vert thin on the ground, you could find out a few places in the jewellery Qtr

How about a Brum get together ? Few beers and a curry
As Hilly10 suggested:
I can also recommend The Old Contemptibles , Edmund street .
Good turn over of cask ale and they know how to look after and serve a good pint .
Ladypool Road was a regular Balti stop when last in the city , however , its like fashion , things and reputations change rapidly .
Good luck and the Jewellery quarter is definitely worth a wander round , lots of preowned watches to tempt .
Sent from my iPhone using TZ-UK mobile app
Should get quite a few hopefully how’s it work organising these ?
Anyone sorted one before ? Will be a good crack and. Chance to put a face to a name maybe one of us should start a new thread Brum get together?
Andy
Head of steam they have an excellent range of beers, and pepper chef for chinese food in china town excellent food not posh but cheap and big portions
Itihaas is good for Indian, although pricey.

Harborne is good for a drink, few decent pubs, 5minute ride from the centre.
Several decent burger joints, meat shack, original patty men.
Moseley has some good restaurants, there's a lovely Thai place (sabai sabai, they also have a branch in harborne).

Kababish is really nice as well.

Will respond when I sober up tomorrow from a night out.
Brum is ace, if you know where you’re going (like most places). Ignore the comment above re “don’t go to Birmingham”.
Thanks all.
The office is on Cornwall St - I'll be staying in relatively nearby hotels.
I'd certainly be up for a meet up.
I'll come back once I'm "settled in" with some potential dates.

I am local so I'll play.
If you are on Cornwall St you are staggering distance from both the Old Contemptibles and Indian Brewery mentioned above (which has IMO excellent food and surprisingly only so-so beer) but nothing in the centre of Brum is too distant. Moseley, Harborne or the Balti triangle would require taxis. For the curry in the BT you cant beat Shababs, for a more upmarket (ie pricey) Indian, Opheem is wonderful but Ashas and Itihaas are good also and all within 400 yard of each other.

cornwall street is within easy walking distance of both the alchemist and the botanist , theres loads of good place to eat and drink in brum and the surrounding areas , if you travel into harbourne i'd recommend the slug and lettuce for some lunch , theres also a rudells watch shop across the road from it that has used IWC /rolex etc .
* forgot to add , there also a fellows watch auction on the feb 10th (jewelry quarter based )

For something a little different you could check out the Digbeth Dining Club. I’ve yet to try it but I’ve been told by a number of people that it’s really good.

Another shout for the Old Contemptibles, good beer and a nice atmosphere. It’s where I have my annual ‘Christmas shopping day’ with the lads
The Plough in Harborne is good, it was my regular Friday/Saturday haunt when I lived there. Good food as well. The Bell is also nice, it’s tucked away in the old Harborne village area next to St. Peter’s Church.
The Dining Club is OK if a tad expensive for Street food. It’s a night out with a difference.
Yeah the Contemptibles is a decent beer place.
Old Joint Stock is OK too.
There's a decent Italian just down the road from the Old Joint Stock with a downstairs & upstairs eating area - can't remember the name of it though.
