    Let’s see your gold watches

I quite fancy adding a gold watch to the collection but often find them a bit garish, especially with gold straps.

Interested to see peoples more subtle gold pieces, especially the less common makes/ models that may not be as well known.

Not quite a WTB yet, more of a looking for inspiration post.

Are you meaning yellow gold in particular?

Go vintage - much more choice if subtle is what you're after. This is a birth-year watch from 1960...

Nice! That white gold Daytona is the best looking Daytona ever made, in my opinion.

    Nothing garish here. Just classy.

If you want to avoid 'garish' with yellow or rose gold then a leather strap is always the way to go imo. Black works but brown or even burgundy can work better. I personally prefer a black face with yellow or rose gold but a white face is generally more subtle.

White gold looks really nice but I have a problem with it. If you have a stainless steel watch and a white gold watch in the same model range they can look near identical but the white gold will command a far higher price tag. So with white gold it's generally not only the appearance that you're going for more so the prestige of owning a precious metal watch. Some examples I can think of are the Bremont Supersonic or even the Rolex Daytona posted earlier.

quite a nice example of a rose gold watch https://www.bremont.com/collections/...ducts/dh-88-rg

    Let’s see your gold watches

Load from the 40s to the 60s including from Smiths if you fancy an English watch.

(Actually I think the gold might be Welsh)

I wanted this specific dial config which took a while to track down but I’m glad I held out.

I quite fancy the idea of a vintage as that would kills two birds so to speak, but I find a lot are very small, as was the fashion at that time. I just don’t suit small watches very well.

I do have a Pioneer manual wind that was my grandads and is a lovely watch to remember him by, but as much as it holds sentimental value, it just looks so small on my wrist I just can’t get past it.

I have three gold watches -- none of which I regard as "garish" (but, of course, none is on a bracelet).

    Yellow:

    Rose:

    White:

I love a bit of gold. My only two (for now) are these...

    One in Rose:

    One in Yellow:

White gold piece on order and should be with me in a few weeks (paces up and down impatiently).

In the flesh nice and subtle the gold on this. I think my SD43 is more flashy.

PAM511 (long gone sadly), but of all the PAMs i’ve owned its probably one of my favs

116655 Everose YM, (moved on to fund a patek), i’ll probably by another at some point, now that the upgraded model comes with a glidelock

Moser Perpetual Calendar, (currently in rotation) lovely size, decent PR and I love the idiotproof stealth calendar.

I have always liked gold watches, and have a couple.

9ct Tudor Royal which from 1959, which I inherited from my Grandfather, and have posted on the forum a couple times now:

And an 18ct. rose gold Longines Flagship heritage Chronograph from about 15 years ago:

The Tudor is really very small and doesn't get worn much, however the Longines is worn regularly .

PAM 231 on black leather. IMHO a great watch for the money and very classy in the metal.
