After 3 years of hassling the owner to sell this watch, it’s finally mine!! Have never been this excited about owning a watch!!
1960’s vintage, issued Luftwaffe Heuer Bundeswehr with the stunning manual wind Valjoux 22 flyback.

This is fitted with the most sought after ‘Red 3H t’ dial and is in genuinely incredible condition, with original dial, hands and bezel. Currently I’ve put it on the NATO but I’ve got a brown Toshi strap on order for it.

Does not have a 60s look. Seems rather contemporary. Maybe the amount of vintage releases is responsible for that, lol. Well done.

They really are a beautiful watch and as said they don't look their age. Obviously a winning formula if they keep reinventing similar watches.
My story is very similar to yours, a friend of mine had one and I didn't know he even had it until I saw a picture of his collection. I plagued him for ages until he let me have it.!
That was about 2 years ago, I can't see this going anywhere.
Congratulations on getting something you really wanted, you don't see many of these about and in my opinion undervalued along side the Autavias.

Loving the excitement for what is still an affordable watch. I managed to pick one up a short while back and probably don't wear it enough. I understand it's difficult given their issued history to know which parts are original and which aren't so guessing yours has an interesting history?

Yeah it really is, not perfect but then I wouldn't expect it to be. A few light marks etc on the case but all part of its character, planning on getting it serviced and cleaned but not polished.Great catch Mike, looks to be in superb condition for its age?

There are also the Sinn 155 variants
These have a strong link to the originals being as Sinn had the maintenance / refurbishment contract.
Some of the 155 are also made using replacement parts such and bezels and cases (such as mine) but use 7750 / 5100 movements.

Congrats on you Heuer BUND 1550SG, these are always a joy to wear, a "must have" in any military collection.
Your watch looks fine, with regards to the case-type, caseback, serial, dial - all matching what is kind of the "de facto" standard for a -3774 with 3H dial. What isn't so good is the chronograph minute hand which is wrong. I believe it comes from the Sinn 155 Replica.
Is the movement picture from your watch or picture from the web? I ask because Valjoux 22 is not that common in the standard 1550, wast majority had 230's. Further I would have expected the Heuer V22 to be very similar to the Leonidas V22 but this is not the case when I compare the pictures of the Leonidas V22.
there has been a few discussions here on tz-uk about the Heuer BUND, which you probably have read. From personal experience I would suggest to get a good understanding of the grub screws and how they interwork with the case as well as how the split stem works and get it examined from time to time. The Bundeswehr instruction booklet is on the web with some basic drawings.
