What would make you buy a 'Smart Watch'?

I'm tempted by them but I can't imagine I would sit staring at it as I sometimes do with a nice watch especially if it's got sunlight shining on it (not that that's happened for a while!)

Not that I suspect it’s a deal breaker but I imagine most now have displays that can be read easily in sunlight. The Garmin do and I’m betting Apple do too.
