    Smartphone Android technical question...

Every time I initiate a "cleanup" on my Samsung Note 8 I find that 15-20 of my apps are resident in memory and/or sucking my battery's juice, even though I haven't used most of those apps in a long time. I know how to disable those buggers from starting up on my Windows PC, but don't have a clue how to keep apps totally out of play until and unless I invoke them on my phone.

    Help anyone?

Scroll down from top of screen to access top menu

    Click cog icon

    Go down to Apps

Click each relevant app in turn

Under Battery, move slider to left so app can't use battery in the background

You can do the same for background data usage, and even Force Stop each app.

    Click the cog icon.
Hit the search icon & type Sleeping Apps.
Add the apps (that you never want to run in the background) to the list.
    Done.

Note that if those apps are Samsung apps, depending which you probably will have that option either unavailable or greyed out.

Hey, THANKS guys! I'll probably be asking the same question again down the road! When I was a boy, high technology was us stretching a long string between two soup cans to try to communicate. As I recall, it didn't work any better in the mid-'50s than it would today!

I use Greenify to hibernate apps. There's a widget to switch off the phone and hibernate. I've used it for years without any issues.
