SOTC - No more trading for a year!

Like many on the forum, I have become a serial flipper, I have had far far too many! This leads me to not really giving myself time to enjoy what I have and wanting some of the ones I had back. I think I need to stop chasing! So like dry January, I am going to attempt to go dry for 12 months.

Any way here is what will hopefully see me through.

Tudor GMT - The second I have had a superb vintage inspired watch for money.

Sinn 556a - I have had in total 5 variations of this model. I always wanted to be a pilot, at least I can pretend!

Rolex Hulk - Not my first Rolex but what a stunning watch when the light hits!

Finally my another watch I have owned twice, I suppose that is the beauty of dealing with great people on here.

Grand Seiko SBGT241 - something quartz, dressy and super accurate.

Hopefully these will keep me happy!

If those don't constrain your purchase instincts then you are without hope. ;-)

And where are the two Casios I KNOW you've taken in this year??

Gav, the first step on the road to recovery is admitting the truth to yourself.

A good selection though the greens not for me, that Tudor really does stand out.

Good luck. For me I will sell three or four and buy one this year. Definitely will be a quiet year watchwise. Not sure what the one purchase will be - Basel normally tosses a curveball so we’ll see.

If only there was an easy way to do it, we would all give it a go.

Good luck with it and see you in SC soon 😂

Luckily there are few of those represented on this forum

Seriously -- there are three lovely watches in that collection, but that can never be enough

Nice varied collection, that GS is a beaut. It’s seriously straining my “no new additions” policy!

Nice collection, unless you're planning on leaving the forum for a year I don't see the no trades thing happening. Only way that could work is going cold turkey.

You’ve got a nice balanced collection there. Theoretically, there’s no need to change it. Theoretically...

nice collection to stick to, you don't need anymore watches ,but that's not the same as wanting more watches which is were the real test is, I find not having any money to buy more watches helps so buy something else that costs a fortune to keep up to LOL

SOTC - No more trading for a year!

I was a serial flipper, it’s addictive. But now I have one mechanical watch (sd43) and one quartz (cwc 1983 navy diver). And it feels great, no more worrying about which model to wear, what to keep or sell.
You can do this and still have fun and variety. If you fancy a change, then change. But stick to ‘one in-one out.’ That way,you remain minimalist. And it’s rather nice to be free of the whole ‘what shall I buy next’ thing.
The one watch I do really fancy is the new Ed White. On the list, whatever that means. So if you see me selling my latest sd43, you’l k kw I got lucky with the Omega.
    Fat chance.......
Incidentally, can I put in a good word for the 1983 navy diver; not cheap for a quartz at £900, but it feels great on the wrist.

Well 1 month down and it’s gone to pot. Out went my GMT and 556.

    Incoming of a PAM590 and BB58.

No chasing other watches was a definite pipe dream.

That was a good spot of business. A Tudor for a Tudor and the Sinn towards the PAM.

SOTC - No more trading for a year!

Well this clearly worked out for me. Haha.

Out went the Hulk, 556a, GS, Tudor and the PAM (but I luckily bought that one back).

    Current update -

    Birth year speedy 145.0022
Had a number of Speedmasters since joining the forum. This has a little more character!

PAM590 - Luckily I managed to get this back. It remains my only dip into the world of Panerai but an excellent watch.

Steeldive (6105 homage) - A recent pickup and excellent quality for £100!!

Rolex 16710 - An all round watch for me. Wears great, bezels and bracelet options. I tend to go for this combination however.

Grand Seiko SBGH269 - Landed today. A special edition and a special watch in the flesh.

Seiko 6309 - Another beat up recent addition but I have always had a Seiko knocking around and the 6306/6309 is my favourite.

And lastly (it hasn’t landed yet!). Another diver.
    Steel Dive Tuna Homage.

Pretty happy, the only watch now I miss and regret moving is my 203 Arktis. Hopefully I can attempt to get that back soon. Also fancy a JLC Reverso longer term. God know how this will look in another 6 months.

    :)

I understand your problem, I repeatedly say no more dabbling then it just seems to happen.

I like the tritium Speedmaster, but the GMT is the pick of the bunch for me. I have been on the hunt for a GMT, so must get around to doing a WTB to see what's out there.
