About two months later they brought out the BLNR and I was very annoyed, a blue/black GMT would have fitted the bill perfectly. Fortunately I'm very fond of my Exp2, even though until a month ago I'd worn it sparingly (for some reason I've started wearing it every day). I had no idea it was brought out to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Exp2.
I suppose there is always the risk of something coming out that could stir up buyers remorse!

I like the idea of an exp2 as my first ever rolex was a 2010 black face exp2, if I made this my last rolex that would complete the circle (but that's probably just wishful thinking)

Well, my mate just collected his batman yesterday and I have to say it may have influenced me to consider something a bit more ‘flashy’, it’s very very nice.

There are too many nice watches out there

Birth year Speedy in good condition with lovely faded tritium. Timeless classic and adds a touch of meaning to the milestone.

Well today is the day…. The big 4-0!

After a lot of deliberation and changing my mind back and forth I went for my first Rolex, a 41mm Submariner and I’m delighted with it

Fantastic watch, impossible to go wrong with that. I've been wearing mine for the last 5 weeks.

    Happy birthday.

Solid choice & looks great on your wrist. I'm on the list for an ND for my 50th - how long did you wait in the end?

Thank you. I actually picked mine up 5 weeks ago but resisted the temptation and saved it for today (which was difficult).

Thank you. Roughly 12 months wait. When is your birthday?

Happy birthday and congratulations on getting your Sub

I did the same, after saving long and hard, and I still have it. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine.

June next year. Bought a Seamaster on my 49th & went on the list for a Sub & Exp II the same day. Was told to expect 9-12 months, which seemed about right.

    Anyway, congrats fella, looks great!

I’m also looking for a 40th in 18 months ish. For me the key things are:
~ Picking a watch with a design that will look as good in 20 years as it does today.
~ Correct dimension and comfort for my taste.
    ~ Something that feels special.
~ Versatile watch that can be worn for many occasions.
~ Adds something new and different to my small collection.
~ My budget is up to 6k.

So far from trying watches on the only watch that really catches my eye A LOT is the omega speedmaster moon watch with exhibition case back.

Outliers would be a Glashutte Original panomatic lunar and a zenith chronomaster.

Good luck with your search and enjoy it.

    Stuart

    Many happy returns!
I turned 40 in May and also bought a 41mm Sub. The clasp felt massive at first but I soon got used to it!

    Thanks Dave.
Did you go for date or no date? I know what you mean about the clasp. I do like the sliding adjust, that’ll come in handy when it’s warm
