When a Panerai just isn't big enough :)

What do you get when your 47mm Panerai PAM389 Submersible becomes your office watch? You get something even bigger. I often say if you're wearing a Panerai it might as well be big. Go the 'Beast' - The PAM193 depth gauge :) 22mm thick and 47mm diameter.

Some quick pics from last night and today.

This clearly isn't an everyday watch, and I have the option to return it, but this is proof to me that I'm still a 'collector' of watches as I have no need for it and it's pretty off the wall, but I'm going to keep it.

    My that’s a beast!
At least it’s a little more cuff friendly than the X-Fathoms or Egiziano LOL :)

Love it. Now go buy a Zlatoust to make the PAM feel like an everyday watch.

I don't think width will be the problem - it's the height!!!

In terms of general appearance I quite like it, which is worrying as I seem to be liking Panerais rather more than I used to - is help available????

    22mm thick!

    Wow. That’s interesting.
Probably twice the thickness of some of my divers.

I really like these, if I were to buy another Panerai it would be one of these (assuming I could find one)

Nice, but if you want to go big then the Pam341 is for you.

60mm and 20mm deep, if your man enough.
    Cheers,

    Ben

The Zlatoust 191 CHS is a 60mm monster. Solid back stainless steel case which weights in at a mighty 250g - over 1/2lb. Impossible to wear (I tried it with mine), but it does make an excellent paper/dive weigh

And there's me debating if a 17mm thick planet ocean is too thick! 22mm is def too much for me, i'd catch it on just about everythng! I do like the fact it is very different though.

Nice one. Often came close to buying it but somehow never did.

Good god thats a monster watch! Fair play to you though for wearing it.

The depth fits into the wrist so it's surprisingly wearable.

It does look chunky but looks like it sits pretty good on the wrist overall it's good to see something a little different once in a while

    All the best

I am not normally a fan of Panerai but that is a superb acquisition. Love it!

You bought a watch not for residuals but because it is fun. Bravo.

It seems over the last few years a lot of the joy of watch collecting has disappeared. Good to see you bucking the trend.

Agreed. I got bitten by the Panerai bug a few years back and subsequently sold off all my Rolexes and now only wear/lust after Panerai. I have found so much enjoyment from Panerai and the Paneristi I've met, that I don't look at any other watches.

On the subject of residuals I've a new incoming next week (I hope) which will probably be a perfect example of that. At least this one was pre-owned.

    Thanks folks for other comments.

This article about the subsequent PAM307 gives some good insight into how the depth gauge module works https://www.horobox.com/en/review-de...gauge-pam00307
