    Seiko Solar Tuna Mod

The watch Seiko should have made (IMHO)

    • Yobokies Stainless shroud
    • Domed crystal (Tempus watch mods)
    • Watch Gecko Bracelet

If only I could source a ceramic bezel insert...

That looks great. Where did you get the shroud from? I have a hankering after a tuna, it's been a while.

    Thanks.
The shroud is from Yobokies - but I bought it from SC with it already fitted.

That is definitely how Seiko should have made it in the first place.

That crystal looks perfect. I might try a seconds hand with the ball on the other end, like on a SKX173, if I get one of these to mod.

Nice job but to be fair to Seiko if that’s how it ‘should have come’ it wouldn’t be the budget tuna that you can pick up around £200. There’s plenty of nice quality tunas but they’re a lot of money so I don’t begrudge them making it as they did.

I'm not into mods but this one looks very nice!

    Seiko Solar Tuna Mod

I was still not 100% happy with the matte bezel insert.
Since I could not source a glossy ceramic replacement insert I decided to have a go gently smoothing & polishing with Polywatch...

It's difficult to photograph, but it does make a difference - & the bezel has more 'pop' now.

Although it's not the exact finish I wanted - I prefer it to the matte finish.

That looks really nice, I wish I never looked in here now! Off to see how much this will cost to build...

It's a Geckota Crosskeys Solid Mesh Stainless Steel Watch Strap - although it wasn’t on the website last time I checked.

    Maybe discontinued ?

There are similar models on Amazon

What’s the quality of the bracelet like please? I’ve been looking at Uncle Seiko and Strapcode Oysters for my Tuna but I can get a Geckota Engineer for half the price.

Your solar Tuna looks great by the way - easily the nicest looking I’ve seen.

Apologies for the tardy response - only just noticed this.
The bracelet is nice quality - each polished centre segment is a cross drilled solid piece & has a decent clasp too.
