I wondered if anyone knows, or has had any dealings with ‘Elesmy’ (Paul).
I’ve just gone to bump a post off mine on WTB, and he’d replied on 05/12/19, but I hadn’t noticed.
However, I noticed when checking out his profile, he’s replied to multiple WTB’s on 28/12/19, telling them he has the watches people are looking for (I believe 10-12 watches)
Unusual to say the least, particularly on one day. Unless he’s possibly a dealer.
Judging by his prolific activity in the WTB forum, the guy owns just about every watch ever made and is anxious to sell them all. Just too eager and keen for my liking.
Does sound like a dealer, but I agree it is annoying when people respond to a WTB in the listing. It is very easy to miss these posts, although clearly sets off a big red warning light when someone does it to multiple listings. I do wish people would PM rather than post.
I just looked at his profile and post history – what a strange character.
I think he thinks he's a fixer but I'd avoid based on the above.
Seek him here, seek him there. Nah. Zero confidence.
If you do a forum search using 'elesmy' as the keyword you will find a number of recent posts which should provide the information you are seeking.
To the OP: you've got access to the Bear Pit. Have a read of the Draft Thread from post 70489 onwards.
He is an undercover dealer who has been banned last year for being an undercover dealer.
More info in the Draft thread.
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.
Paul Smy, I know shops he regularly goes to and wastes hours criticising watches and then offers prices below trade. It must obviously work some of the time for him. He also emails out small lists of watches he has for sale.
Strange thing is he responded to a WTB advising a certain jeweller had the watch I was looking for. When I called that jeweller they said they’d never stocked that brand.
Very weird indeed.

Thank you to everyone who replied.
He messaged me offering me a watch I was interested in, without box or papers, but with a 12 month jewellers guarantee.
I believe from the information posted above, he’s this fella...

I just checked and his name was Paul Symonds - so not the same person.
