Is it as simple as shoving a stick in the back?

Yes, just plug into USB port. A USB powered hard drive will store a lot more. You might have to format it first so the TV recognises it.
Yep, dead easy, even my limited tech abilities coped. Just put a stick thing in the slot and follow the onscreen instructions.
My Samsung is very picky as to which USB device (stick/HDD) would work.
Don’t know if they’re all like this but for reason of copyright mine will only play HD content back on the same TV.
Sounds painful. Is it as simple as shoving a stick in the back?
I hadn’t even thought about doing that with a Smart TV!
I have also been trying to record from my smart TV, without much success.
I will try this USB stick.
Yesterday i finally tried it and indeed it is that simple, stick it in, format and record.
I now have an issue, i cannot record overlapping content, last night was MIB and Casino Royale, so todays question is can i put another stick in as i have a number of spare usb ports.
Unless your TV has 2 tuners (unlikely) you won’t be able to do this.
You can get a recording box for not huge price:

Flushed with glory i went and bought exact same thumb drive for the tv upstairs, also a samsung, this time it recognises the drive but wont offer the option to format and the option to "Schedule Recording" when trying to do so????
Hopefully the OP won't mind me hijacking the thread but I have a similar question!!!
Can I play a dvd and record that onto my hard drive to watch later? Say when travelling etc?
