An Early Christmas present - the Newmark 71 arrives

I was not expecting Ewan to be sending out the watches this side of Christmas, but postie knocked on the door for a signature this morning, and here we are, a blue, dive bezel,no-date has arrived in Bristol.

Forgive the lack of depth of field, I have much to do today, but wanted to get a piccie up here to show the arrival.

It looks great, the blue really does change with every different type of light (the above being almost as bright as it gets), and the background texture on the dial is very subtle, velvetty almost, unlike some sunburst dials which are very granular.
The lume is excellent, the uninterrupted 4-quarter marks look great and the bracelet is really comfy, and has resisted the urge to pluck any forearm hairs so far. The bezel movement is very loudly positive, and the alignment is good.

It is a very wearable size at just under 40mm bezel diameter. It is very nice indeed, and Ewan has done a great job to get this out at such a reasonable cost.

    Dave

An admirable crack at updating the old Newark watches we've all seen in bad condition on ebay over the years, really like this one, particularly the bezel.

    Looks great

I'm guessing mine will be next year but I need to receive my invoice for the extra bezels first. I'm looking forward to it though.

Humph! How come you have yours and I don't have mine? I have exactly the same one on order as yours. I feel... neglected, unloved, possibly even desolate. It does look very good, hope mine arrives soon then. Like you, was not expecting shipment before Christmas but now, I want mine!

    I want mine now!

That looks great and lovely to receive just before Christmas. Guess you’ll be wearing it tomorrow?

Ewan posted a shot of the blue no-date variant on FB a few days back, it looks superb IMO...

...which is a shame as I ordered a black dial though for the life of me I can't remember if I went for the date or not I'm sure that the black version will still be great.

I was hoping to have mine for Xmas though seeing as we've all waited for around 5 months another week or so isn't going to kill me!

Do you just have to subscribe to the Newmark Kickstarter pages to get notified when a new model is in the works?
    Wouldn’t mind trying one out.
Presume they also sell directly once the Kickstarter campaign is over??

It is a one-off limited production run of 300 watches. So there may be a handful available for general sale, but that'll be it.

Ooo, I missed this post on Xmas eve. Watch looks ace and is the same config I went for. So, I’m hoping mine arrives soon but I’m equally happy for it to be the first incoming of 2020 if need be!

Just a quick bit of feedback to say I have been wearing it for the duration, and I am still every bit as impressed as I was on Christmas eve morning.
I have worn it day and night, and all of my wrist hairs are intact.
The rotor is quite noisy, but otherwise it is a very refined and good-looking watch, and very legible indeed.
I shall take dome more photos tomorrow, I hope

I'm still waiting eagerly as well, however Ewan sadly lost his mum around Christmas so that has understandably slowed things up.

Mine looks to be a way off, but no complaint given the circumstances. I went with silver plus a blue 60 minute and black 24 hour. Surprised not to see any YouTube reviews yet (as in of retail, not the prototype reviews)

    Mine arrived over the weekend.
    Blue date 60 minute - #27
Have to say I was in two minds with this - did think about flipping it straight away.
Although when I took it out of the box and had a really good look at it I decided to keep it an try it.
Build quality is superb - seems to punch above its price point.
Bracelet is fantastic and really easy to adjust - no over tight screws, and the clasp is nice and solid.
Case/bezel is slimmer than I was expecting.
Love the blue dial - stands out amongst all my black ones lol
Also mighty impressed with the lume on dial, hands and bezel.
Slips nicely under the shirt too.
Have ordered a navy blue NATO to give it a try on too.
Brilliant work by Ewan and co

An Early Christmas present - the Newmark 71 arrives

My silver dial no date with the s/steel bezel has arrived safe and sound. The bracelet has been adjusted and it’s on my wrist! I’m very pleased with the watch especially considering the price I paid.
The pictures don’t do justice to the dial though!

Mine arrived a week or so ago and I put it for sale as I'd had so many incomings. Hadn't even looked at the watch let alone destickered it. Anyway I decided to check it out, one thing lead to another and anyway I'm keeping it. It is a cracking watch for the money and I'm happy with the config I went with.

Popped the bracelet off earlier (nice solid end links - wasn't expecting those ).

Nice looking watches, may I ask how much they are? As I cannot find a price on the website.

    Hi Steve

They were a Kickstarter and cost either £290 or £320 depending on how early you got in.

    They were all sold.

However, I seem to recall seeing a post somewhere why a few may be made available.

If you want one I suggest you contact them as soon as possible and enquire about that.

Also, I believe someone who had one put a post up on Facebook saying he was thinking of selling his - so a nearly new one might be a possibility.

Anyway - good luck, hope you get one
