Forgot the obligatory watch pic
So, who has called time for Christmas?
Now, I know it’s not big or clever, but this is the G&D where you can relax over a pint or two, so that’s just what I’m doing.
After 30+ years of grafting, this is the earliest that I have broken up for Christmas, I’m now the owner of my own business, employed my son in July and I’m currently enjoying a few beers with him.
I’m looking forward to this one, we’re going to have a full week off and hopefully a bright 2020 awaits us.
I hope everyone manages to get a slice of peace and good will.
If only I could get him to put that bloody phone down!
What is this “breaking up for Christmas “ if which you speak?
Going in for 7pm-8:30am night shift tonight, off for 4 days, back on 8:30am-7pm day shift Christmas Day.
Wishing you all a safe & happy Christmas

I broke up for Christmas around fourteen years ago and never looked back.
Best Regards - Peter
I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.
I broke up on the ninth dec and have been finding out just how long osmo oil based paint takes to dry in this weather. First coat....... three days!
I broke up in May 2016
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

I finished at Christmas 2012, so 7 years of nothing but being a domestic god 😂
I do approx 4 days a month for about 5 months over the winter, and when the flights pick up for next summer it's mental again, well not really just 5am til 12,I leave the 12 hour shifts to the other guys.
Yes work done holiday watch on....jet off to warmer climes tomorrow
Used my last days holiday to book today off, so i finished yesterday. Not back until 6th Jan, which is nice
Unfortunately not. Took the afternoon off to pick up the Boy up from school so he didn't have to go to after school club but back in on Monday and Tuesday. The urgent work is done (unless something has cropped up this afternoon) so, fingers crossed, it should be an easy ride into Christmas.

Broke up a couple of years ago (but do a little on my own terms)
Worked 27 out of 33 Christmases before that.
Was always a bit of fun at work though!
Start back tomorrow! Yep, the 21st of December
Also working 29th December to 3rd January!
Ho Ho Ho!
nope, working Monday, Tuesday, back in-between then off news years day only, but with a bit of luck it will be my last :-)
Off to 06-01 now and then only 1/2 day as the Dutch Government don’t give us the keys to our new building until 12 AND we have to have a celebratory lunch afterwards (Dutch working lunch, so sandwiches and milk).

Bunch of slackers! I've got an important commercial meeting on Xmas Eve 10am then off till 6th January but that's booked for a multiple-lawyer meeting at 3pm. FFS what a start to the new decade
Yep. Broken-up here as well. Currently in a hotel on Schiphol to catch an early flight tomorrow morning to a warm Climate for a week.
Having a drink in Disney World right now.
Finish 17:30 on Monday, until new years eye.
But will be volunteering at Crisis on the 23rd and 26-29th night shifts so straight out of the office and head up to London for the first.
Then back in the office on the 31st and then head off for a private job New Year's eve.

Finished today after a long week, Zurich and Cambridge from Hampshire. Looking forward to being with the family until the 6th. Lovely start with an early evening in the pub with friends and all the kids
Finished work on 31 August this year. Could have looked back - but haven’t - best decision ever - you only get your time once (so it appears). Flying off to Portugal on 6th Jan - loving the freedom.
Sadly not. Being a shopkeeper
Work today off Xmas day and Boxing Day.
Happy Xmas all
I need to share senior management team cover / responsibilities with a few colleagues so am off till Friday then in for the remainder of the festive period (excluding weekends and public holidays).
Looks like we have #27 running a poor 2nd to #18 in the ‘humblebrag’ stakes..............
I came here for the divorce stories lol.
As for breaking up for the holidays .. happy to say I'm now off till Jan 6th. Can't get far enough away from the place!
Yeah, to hell with it, I can't be bothered any more, so I'm done for 2019, unless someone comes up with some work I can bill for!
Will be my longest Xmas break in years, as usually I'm busy trying to close projects by year end or just spending the Xmas to New Year gap doing some much needed admin, but for whatever reason (a lot of clients are telling us it's Brexit) the last six months have been very quiet, so there's nothing really left to do.
I fear 2020 may not really be any better...
And on that joyful note, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2020!

School teacher, so now on holiday til 6/1. Made a big decision recently...retiring in 2022 when I’ll be 55. Recently qualified as a counsellor so will try self employment for the first time in my life.
Happy Christmas all.
Dave
I'm working today and should be home by 7pm, then 8 straight days off to be back on the 30th and a half day on the 31st, then off again until 3rd Jan.
It has only been the last 3 Christmases, including this one, that I've had any meaningful time off over the festive period, it still feels like a luxury. A friend of mine finished last Wednesday and isn't back to work until the 6th Jan...

One of the minor drawbacks with being retired (a permanent holiday) is the loss of the 'whoopee' factor when you finished work for a long break such as Christmas. Same with going on holiday, much of the appeal is that you're not going to work for a while.
I always tried to get as a long a break as possible over Christmas/New Year. My Birthday's Jan 4th and I often ended up going back to work on that day.
Last day this year was the 19th as I'd been a bit of a muppet & had 3 days leave to take or lose.
Back on the 2nd.

Chilling till 6/1/20.
Yup just finished, looking forward to some family time. The Sqn is shutdown is quite long this year and not back til 06 Jan.
Best wishes to you all!

Nearly, just got to do a 12hr night shift tonight and another one tomorrow night (72hrs this week) then I'm off until 29th Dec. Shift rota has fell kindly this year (unlike last year and next year 🙄).
Holidays started, relax till the new year!
Girlfriend broke up with me a few weeks ago. That count?
Had 7 days left, leave calendar rolls over on the 1st, sooooo, off now until the 6th, yay!
Happy Christmas all!

I broke up on Friday, back on the 2nd for a few weeks then hopefully finish for good at the end of Jan!
Delighted to report I’m working until Wednesday, back on the 2nd. I rather enjoy work, not a big fan of the enforced jollity of Christmas and find a few days off more than enough. Save my holiday for bright warm days not grey cold and wet ones where it’s dark after 3.30pm!

My parents...
Duty Christmas eve then 2 days off, whoopee.
I broke up Friday at 4.30. Got a call from the boss asking me to fix a few things. Finished again at 9.30pm. Then got a call Saturday morning asking for some backwards compatibility testing and modification. All has been quiet today....
