    Long shot...anyone live in Calais?

Going to Calais on a booze run next Sunday. Wanted to pick up some bread from Marie Blachere. It's wonderful. But, they are not open on Sundays. Any Calais-dweller able to get us some on Saturday and bag a bottle of Cru De Beaujolais for your trouble, please?

It is a crazy long shot, I know.

Have you tried giving them a call and see if you can arrange a collection on the Sunday

Worth a try. I assume you are crossing Saturday. ?

I thought the whole point of french bread is that you eat it on the day of purchase.

Day old bread, no matter how good it was, will be past it’s prime.

Had bread that was a day old and it mainly depend on how you store it they offer bags that keep it French longer. Of course it will not last ages but once bread is gone hard, my friend had a farmer that would collect that breadth feed it to the chicken so it's not going to waste.

Normally baker lives on the premises for the most I have seen so a quick collection if they have their house on the top of the shop should not bother them at all.

If you don’t have one of the magic bags, what nationality does the bread change into?
    Cheers..

That bag is sold in any bakery so you can ask for it when you buy your bread.

Don't really get your comment so English ?
