Adidas sizing - help from the trainer experts

I’m buying a pair of Adidas Campus and my usual size of shoe is a UK9 but I seem to remember reading somewhere that Adidas come up on the small size and going up a 1/2 size is advisable.

is this the case, I dont want to order and have to return for another size.
    Cheers,

    Ben

Sizing seems to be all over the place with Adidas these last few years.
I’ve always been a nine but noticed I have to take half a size up with quite a few lately Kegler, handball and TRX.
Bought some goretex kegler online in a 9 and keep trying to stretch them but they aren’t budging, so if ordering online now I always go half a size up

I have to go up a full size with Adidas Sambas, I'd recommend ordering the two sizes you could be to compare and send the other ones back if you're doing this online

I'm an 8 in Adidas. 7 in Nike and 7.5 in New Balance.

I'm usually a 7 in formal shoes. Consistently 8 in Adidas - I will say I only buy the originals ones though

I’ve bought Sambas for many years and always bought size UK 9.5, a couple of years ago they changed and a 9.5 was slightly too small. I now have to buy 10 which feels too wide. I ended up selling a pair of 9.5 unworn because I’d bought them without checking the fit. My feet haven’t changed, everything else fits OK!

To answer the OP, there’s no consistency in the sizes between different designs/models, the only way to get them right us to try them on. In the good old days, when they were made in France and Germany, this was never a problem, and quality was significantly better. I remember buying the original Gazelles in the mid- 70s, they were far better than the current offerings.

9 in a adidas are too small for my size 9 feet - 10 too big - like folk have said - all over the place

    I am a UK9/EU43 as well in C&J/Church's etc
For adidas I am around 10.5 UK size though it depends a bit on the model.
So go at least one size up.

Just found a size guide on adidas.co.uk, measured my feet and it says i need a 10.5

Like yourself I have Church, C&J in standard 9s and they are fine, 10.5 seems massive and wrong, perhaps I will go a size up and order a 10.

I know it sound mad but go for the 10.5. I can never get my head round it either. One pair of adidas I have are 11 and they fit perfect....

I have Gazelle trainers and went for size 7 which is somewhat snug. 7.5 would have been perfect or even an 8 to allow thicker socks to be worn in this weather.

Having said this I went to a shop and should have no excuse for buying an incorrect size. The shop was busy and I wanted to be in and out as quickly as possible.

I'm generally an 8 in almost anything, but for Adidas I have to go to 8.5. That has worked for Stan Smiths, Gazelles and Superstars. However, I bought a pair of Campus earlier in the year in 8.5 and they're wider and longer than an equivalent pair of Superstars, which look to have the same sole unit. I reckon I'd have been OK in an 8.

One of the reasons is that the factories will use a different last on popular sizes if they don't have enough of the correct one. It will be similar but have slight variations in length and girth. To them the difference is negligible, so to them not a problem.

The last plants (the quantity of last used on the production line) is as small as possible as the foctories have to purchase them themselves.

Samba's, Gazelle's and the like, have always come in narrow.

Just popped into town (i hate going in to town) and tried on a pair of Adidas VS, a similar trainer to the Campus as in it has a derby style open lacing and a 9.5 was fine, tried a 9 too but too tight.

I mainly suffer with width and have a highish instep so this style suits be better than Oxford style lacing as its a little bit more forgiving.

I’m 8 in Clarks Orignals, perfect fit, and always take 9 in Adidas Originals, again, perfect fit. I tried 8.5 in Adidas but too narrow so always 9 for me.

With the prices they charge they could manufacture in Europe and get the quality better, I dislike the way we accept Asian manufacturing as a the norm thesedays. These brands were built on quality, I used to buy Adidas shoes in the 70s when they were the best.

Manufacturers in some parts of Asia have no concept of quality. The exception is Japan, possibly Japanese owned companies still adhere to the concept of getting things right.

Not necessarily. They may get better quality in assembly, but 90% of materials used are from nominated (by the brand) suppliers

We as in the customer? We don't have a choice. It's all about the margin. Although one 'fully' automated ADIDAS production facility has opened in Germany.

That's just utter tosh! Japan are obviously on another level in their values and beliefs, but there are many many quality focussed manufacturing facilities in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Mayanmar. Indo, Dominican Republic, Laos, Cambodia, Bangladesh etc. Of course there are exceptions.

Do you mean like these below? This is about a third of my collection which are all unworn. I do have about 50 pairs which I wear “regularly” but about 80 pairs remain unworn.

What a collection. Do you have particular favourites?

I currently have a knackered pair of Adidas Porsche design (but no Porsche) and grey Gazelles. Not quite the same.

Thank you, it’s taken about 15 years so far!

Lots of favourites depending on the day but my signed Noel Gallagher training PT’s below with some new Liam Gallagher’s are really great to have.

Adidas sizing - help from the trainer experts

Fantastic collections guys. Gonna show my wife these as makes my shoe pile look reasonable in comparison!

On Adidas, I bought 7 pairs in the sale (all wide) last Christmas, a mix between 0.5 and 1 size up. Length was fine in 1 up, but all were too narrow. I’m normally a size H. So no more Adidas for me. I always had Adidas as a child, guess my feet became Hobbit like as an adult.

  36. #36
Agree with most comments. Always go half to one size up from 'normal' shoes or Nike trainers and they are narrower than many trainers so might have to go up just to get the width if you have wideish feet.

Those do look nice. I prefer simple looking designed trainers rather than the monstrosities that some wear these days. But maybe I am just old.

Well, the trainers pictured are a collaboration with Fox Brothers and Adidas and went live for sale at 0900 on Friday morning.

I ordered two pairs, one for me and one for my brother at 0901. Got an email yesterday saying one pair have been despatched but they cannot supply the other due to having no stock because of high demand.

Im surprised that such a specialist, niche item has sold so quickly.

    Are trainer collectors buying these?

Oh well, at least the pair they are sending is my size, looks like my brother will have to miss out 😃
