very nice ....if only they'd stop slapping BLANCPAIN on the side of the case
Collecting the new Barakuda today. Can’t wait, I’ve wanted a really nice piece that does not scream Rolex. It will make a change from my Sub and GMTs.
What do you guys think?
very nice ....if only they'd stop slapping BLANCPAIN on the side of the case
Very nice. I love the bezel on the fifty fathoms.
I think it is one that has to be seen in the flesh, on your wrist. In photos, the false patina of the markers - doesn't look right.
Think that model is in big demand, though!
(I quite like the embossing on the side)
Not sure about the red on the markers, but love the rest of it.
Great looking watch for me and a nice size.

Really nice watch. Not keen on the name on the side but would be good to see some wrist shots without the sticker on the dial in natural light.
Although a great watch, I still can't get over how similar it is to a Timex watch I had when I was 11
I think I may need a little educaton here.
I see a nice looking watch. but one with:
- Simple flat white hands
- A printed dial, no applied indices, and only 2 colours used
- A totally polished case, no differential surface finishes
- Even the bezel edge is cast, not machined
- A Tropic strap
Given the above, this must be a relatively easy watch to produce. I know it is a BP, and an FF at that. And it does look gorgeous. And it does have a 100 hr power reserve movement. And it is an LE.
But other than that movement, I am not seeing (in the design and manufacture) the value to back up the US$14k needed to take one home.
Can someone help me see it?
Dave
ps - this is not meant in any kind of derogatory manner, I am genuinely interested.
@ Dave - it really is the combo of all the points you made. Sadly that means nowadays a potentially pricey watch.
@ OP - Congrats on the watch, pricing aside it is a good looking watch, enjoy!
It’s too pricy in my opinion but I want a brand other than Rolex and this fits the bill nicely as I like it and due to the history.
Always liked the FF but it's a bit too big, and I'm not crazy about the position of the date. The Barakuda solves both of those issues.
I had one of these reserved but then realised that it is 40mm. I like a biggish watch and knowing how small the 45mm ff "wears" I backed out. But if the size is right for you it will be a gorgeous piece. Blancpain is a cut above the everyday rolex/omega stuff, imho anyway.

Found a pic of the item I tried on at the AD in central London.
It wears very nice.

Very nice and will make such a refreshing change from all those Rolex.
Its one of the nicest watches released recently
However that script on the side means I would never buy one (if I could find one for sale), same for the standard FF, it’s the best looking dive watch by far (even nicer in its milspec version) and I would love one if it were not for the side of the case. Has the same effect on me as the cyclops on a Submariner.
I paid a deposit on this twice but backed out when I tried on the MilSpec, just too small for me (and my wrist is small at 6.75). Lovely looking watch though, if only a bit bigger. Enjoy!
Stunning watch. IMHO the nicest model in a stunning lineup of one of the very finest brands.....and at 40mm
Enjoy

The bezel looks weird is it made of some type of clear rubber ?
Fantastic looking watch imho , really want a ff style watch and at 40mm it would be ideal , just got to hope it becomes a standard model and not just a LE version - £11k just too much!
