Turns out according to the Thai Navy Seal feed that it was UK specialist cave rescue divers from Derbyshire who managed to lead the Thai Navy Seals through to where the boys were located :)

Humanitarian Aid "Visa" stamped and issued either at Heathrow before they left courtesy of the Thai Embassy, or waiting for them on arrival.
And quite right too
Latest update is that the 2 UK divers got there BEFORE the Thai Navy seals. They were the first on the scene. Thai Navy seals expected in overnight to facilitate the extraction. There's a video online of the UK divers communicating with the boys.
Cracking job by all and kudos to the skilled UK cave rescue specialists. I'd imagine the freedom of Thailand will follow soon!

I was shocked when I heard this fantastic news.
Truly amazing after over week, I had feared the worst.
This will change the lives of the families forever to get their children back,
they will see the world differently now and feel truly blessed.
Fantastic news for all concerned and a great effort by all elements of the rescue team. Getting the 13 out will be a huge challenge: language, diving skills, strength/health etc. Rick Stanton is one of the Brit cave divers and if anyone can get it done it's him.
Great news and a superb result. Hats off to the rescue team and may the trip out be safe and issue free.
As has been said, given the time scales and the location, it could have easily been a horrendous tragedy; therefore, some positive news is welcome and one can only imagine how thrilled the families must be.

All fingers crossed they can get them out safely having now found them. They'll be very weak, so any diving to get them out is probably highly risky.

Such amazing news, I really expected to hear the worst. It must have been an unbearable week for the families, and i'm so pleased their prayers have been answered. If the news that the British divers saved them is true, I couldn't be more proud of those guys. Well done!

Just watching this on the news where they were talking to an expert. Apparently from entering the cave, getting to the kids and back out again it is a 3 hour round trip for an experienced diver. My guess is it’s going to be some time until they are all safely out. I've got everything crossed here.
Reports now saying they may have to remain in there for up to four months!

You can't just dive them out though, very dangerous and a last resort.

Getting medical support etc in will be difficult enough. Getting them out is a whole different matter. Especially with the rain that is due soon. Fingers (and toes) crossed.

The first voice 12 young Thai footballers and their coach heard after nine days trapped in caves was that of Briton John Volanthen.
"How many of you?" he asked. "Thirteen? Brilliant."
It meant that, finally, they had been found.
Mr Volanthen and Richard Stanton had been called in by the Thai authorities along with another British caving expert, Robert Harper.
The trio arrived in Thailand three days after the football team went missing. More than 1,000 people have been involved in the operation, from all over the world.
Given they could now be there months waiting for the rains to stop and the waters subside it is going to be a hard slog for them all. Or they have to be trained to dive whilst there but it looks like the recommendation is to wait it out as the safest option.
It’s amazing in this day and age that a solution can’t be found that does not involve them staying there for up to 3 months

Given the circumstances I can't really agree with that. But they are working on the possible options, eg draining the underground cave system, and so it may not take that long to get them out safely.
Although somewhat different, when I hear about being lost or trapped in caves, I think about the Nutty Putty cave death. Reading the interviews of people involved in the attempted rescue, you soon realise just how formidable these environments are and how there are situations people can get themselves into that are irreversible.
The team and coach are safe and there is no doubt they'll get them out but as has been said, it won't be easy or quick.
I reckon 2 weeks max. On a side note I’m staggered they were allowed to enter a cave system that frequently floods when not ONE of the kids can even swim. Ludicrous
Impressive effort so far. I hope with every fibre of my being that all the boys and all those involved in the rescue make it out of this.

It is amazing news, just watched the latest on the news. So did they walk into the cave system, it rained and now most of the cave system is flooded?
When it was mentioned that it might be months before they get them out my small brain couldn’t comprehend this as in the video they are there just across a small pool?

I struggle with it a bit myself but the figures are the stuff nightmares are made of.
I'm not a fan of enclosed spaces or water but I never really figured cave diving was any different to regular diving until I watched and read about that horrible video of the famous cave diver who drowned.

In the video, divers are using single cylinders and no stages, this means they have most likely another or possibly more chambers along the route where there are areas above water or they have a habitat,in which staged gas will be stored in order to allow a push onwards or cover a exfil that may not be straight forward. Typically a third to go in, a third to come back and a third for the fan/reserve also no stage decompression gas indicates no deco penalty so not great depths to contend with.
To dive the kids out after all training would mean a build up of staged gas at these chambers for a worse case senario, bringing them out one chamber at a time, virtually impossible, maybe on a one kid one diver all the way out basis yes but en masse absolutely fraught.
Also water looks brown, so visibility will be really low and flow is likely strong carrying the alluvial silt thru the system,cue fatiigue and panic.

Christ, shows the gravity of the situation these kids are still in. Too early to celebrate their rescue yet I fear. Tragic that this hero died trying to save others. Puts things in perspective.

I wonder if they could put each kid in a capsule/bag with oxygen and pull them through ? Sounds daft I know but if they can’t swim it sounds such a challenge.
Went potholing when 13 with Scouts hated every second of it crawling through cracks in rock horizontally tied to each other doubt Health and Saftey would allow today.
Hopefully they get some good fortune and are saved without further loss of life.
Stuff of nightmares for me, you couldn't drag me in heavily-sedated.
Utmost respect for those volunteering to go in and desperately sadly to read of the death of one of them. There's hope. They are talking about all the options including drilling from the top. At least they are accessible.
