    Massive Explosion Just Heard

I am living between Potters Bar and Cheshunt in Herts and was just woken but a massive explosion which shook the whole house. Did anyone else hear anything?

Yes - something here in Welwyn. No idea what it was....

Edit... It reminded me of the Buntsford fuel depot explosion though perhaps not quite as powerful

Apparently sonic booms from two RAF Typhoons taking off - amazed the energy could be that great. Heard from Heathrow to Hitchin!

Sonic boomb's from RAF aircraft having been called upon to intercept a passenger aircraft that was not responding to radio communication.

They don't break the sound barrier when they take off, but they do once they're in flight.

I heard it too. Seems like a bit of a coincidence that the NATO summit starts at The Grove in Watford tomorrow.

It’s what happens when the RAF are in a hurry to get to‘work’.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

It woke me up this morning. The wife didn't hear a thing.

There was one a few months ago that had the whole street out wondering what had happened.

    They are really loud.

Didn’t hear this one, but as you mentioned there was one a few months ago on a Saturday. I was at work in the office (mainly glass building? and is shook the glass panes, so much so, we though someone had driven into the front of the building.

No idea yet why the RAF were deployed. Maybe it’s the Ruskies popping over for a Sunday Roast or Pie and Mash.

We used to regularly get this in Devon in the 70’s as Concorde came back through the sound barrier on its approach to the UK.
Certainly shook the windows then !

Assumed it was the Rolex bubble bursting overhead.

I'm sure Bark and jack will be making a video on it this week.
