What a waste! Worn for a year and then ignored. Obviously wasn't the best present ever. I'd guess it just needs a new battery, but can't help feeling that this would will be throwing good money after bad.
A friend of mine bought her Son a Brietling B1 for his 18th birthday in 2004, he wore it for a year or so then it went in the draw. She moved house a few months ago and the watch was discovered in the draw dead as a Dodo. She as expressed an interest in getting it overhauled and back working again, in hope he may wear it again. Anyone know of any watch repairer or Independent specialists, or will it have go back to Breitling

I know I was horrified when she told me, I handled the watch and it’s in fantastic condition, I think because he is a lot older he may wear it now, if not he could always trade for something else but it’s needs to be working to achieve a better price or trade in.
I was told that if the hands are also dead it’s more than likely just the battery.
5yrs from batteries. Hope the battery hasn’t leaked in that time - that could be terminal.
If the battery has been sitting in the watch for 14 years is it not likely to have leaked and ruined the movement?
I suspect a trip to Breitling might be the best solution but expect a hefty bill. Unless the battery didn't leak, in which case it will hopefully just need a maintenance service for £140

I’d send back to Breitling call / email via webpage them direct rather than AD and they will send you a service pack - insured postage.
may insist on a full service - perhaps a module change. But will end up with a brand new watch - worth a lot more than a full service.
I doubt it is cost effective to replace electronic components inside the movement?
The only current Breitling using the movement in the B1 is the chrono military.

MRP >£4K.
