    Yellow dialed divers watches

what if any are the advantages or is it just a bold statement?

    are there any disadvantages?

I am mostly talking from a desk divers viewpoint but would like real divers input as well.

If you like yellow then it would be an advantage I guess.

It's also easier to see deeper underwater I think.

Yellow vanishes at about 30 metres so you cant see it after that without artificial light

Cons: If you like wearing purple shirts then a yellow dialled watch would look absolutely hideous, darling! Silver is also a fashion faux pas when matched with yellow but only footballers wives and plebs would be seen dead in a silver top. It's not 2016 any more gals! Bleurgh. Obviously yellow and green is the colour of Norwich City so should be avoided at all costs unless marrying relatives is your kind of thing.

Pros: Blacks, greys and hot pink go sooper with yellow accessories don'tcha know.

thank you mister Lampoc I mostly wear black and have no intention of marrying anyone even less so a relative.

I've had a couple of these, although not the clearest in low light in the evenings. If I see another for sale I would probably buy it back as I do like it.

Yellow is just the coolest dial colour. I currently have 3 but also previously had a Breitling Emergency yellow dial too:

Matter-of-taste (or as some would unkindly say - lack of it).

I for one have a semi for Hamtun's revised Kraken in yellow ...

Looks black in the pic, but is Titanium grey.

[NB if such is of interest, ignore the "sold-out" and follow the "pre-order" link]

    ---

Of course if black PVD is your thing, Scurfa's Diver One yellow dial is dang nice, too:

    One on SC, too, iirc.

I’ve got one somewhere that was bought completely by accident in a mixed auction lot. I must have hidden it pretty well as I can’t find it even with that horrific canary yellow strap. If it turns up I’ll try and get a better picture, as it is here’s a crop from the auction listing. Was obviously one of the watches of a professional diver, but given the leather strap I think he relied on the better watches that were in the same lot.

Hopefully there will be a Smiths Caribbean along soon in yellow, all the yellowness you'd ever need.
I still can't decide whether I want the yellow or the orange.

Since this has turned into a 'show your yellow-dialled dive watch' thread...

Answering the OP's question: so long as you like the colour, it's only a bold statement. There were no practical disadvantages I came across when wearing it.

Thanks, it's the SKXA35 and I can't honestly remember where I sourced the shark mesh bracelet......sorry, it's been a few years.

EDIT : Looking back through some posts my memory has been jogged and the mesh shown above was from WJean

Tiny glass beads I'm guessing - I've not seen that sort of effect since I was a kid (around about the time that watch was new!).

This is why I asked I thought I might get something colourful to take to NZ,it’s not really my thing.

I plan on a lot of boat trips, there’s a good chance of getting wet in Doubtful sound and Milford haven etc.
I shall also be visiting a active volcano by boat.

The watch has a lot of heft,it feels solid and well built.

Exactly what I’d look for in a yellow diver, this or a Tutima DI300

Zenith did a really lovely but not very common yellow dial for their Rainbow Elite diver, I nearly bought one years ago from Neil at Chronomaster.

    Yes, you really do ...

In answer to the OP’s original question, I think the best reason for owning a yellow dialled watch is that you really like it... and I really, really like mine .
