Just watched it. For me personally it’s better the TG. I’m amazed those cars withstood that punishment though.

I’ve just watched it this evening. I enjoyed it and some of the scenery was stunning.

I did think that May and Clarkson are really starting to look old though.

I will wager that the manufacturer of the caterpillar tracks now regret getting involved !

Caterham, however, must be delighted with their performance.
And so easy to hose down the interior.

I sat down to watch with two of my teenage sons, we all thoroughly enjoyed this episode.
Clarkson looks closer to 70 than 60, he's aged dramatically over the past few years.

    Yup, that’s their brand gone!

Maybe not designed for that terrain though!!

    I really enjoyed that.

I enjoyed it more than I was expecting to - usually, as soon as one of them mentions "modifying our cars" the thing goes rapidly downhill, but not this time.

Although the Ford was over-ambitious, and was never going to work on that terrain, the other two were better than I anticipated, although all three had been comprehensively modified, and they had probably taken the original cars and the modified versions with them, after some intense work had been undertaken very professionally.

The Bentley, apparently, now resides at Diddly Squat Farm (proprietor J Clarkson), and really was a well-engineered piece of kit, while the Caterham was a surprise, albeit a rather muddy/sewagey one. Not nice, I didn't envy James May at all.

As entertainment, with three late middle-aged men who know each other well enough to understand what they can get away with goes, it was good, harmless fun. It's a shame that we only seem to get one episode every year. It used to be said that Christmas could be judged by the quality of the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Special. The Grand Tour might have become the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Special for our time.

It certainly worked for Caterham's reputation.

    It was an enjoyable watch.

It’s easy viewing entertainment and the relationship between the 3 of them is pretty relatable for most guys and their mates. I’m glad they still make them, it’s just a shame they are so few in number these days.

I thought the Caterham did very well, despite initially thinking it had clown tyres on it. I guess car trials other than trail brakes on each wheel are similar. I also though J. May had aged , even Hammond is getting a belly!

Good fun, but more of a carry-on film/travelogue (featuring cars) that anything else.

One thing for certain was that they seriously upped their budgets. They most have had over £100k in cars, before they started modifying them. That said the Bentley was very good (and a nice place to be), but the Caterham certainly was a surprises. Even it did look more like a Baja dune buggy with those rear tyres, that a track weapon.

Alas it was ruined for me when the wife say “ Why didn’t they just get Toyota pick-ups. Because that’s what everyone else has”. A good point, but not the point I was looking for.

I enjoyed it, but was a little underwhelmed. The concept of buying inappropriate cars and forcing them through bad driving conditions has been done to death now.

Their version of Top Gear was only ever Last of the Summer Wine. Three old men, same old jokes, Sunday evening.
