Thread: Recommend a decent ADSL2 Router?

    Recommend a decent ADSL2 Router?

My Netgear Nighthawk has died after 4 years of service :-(

I'm with BT and the free router is a POS, will not push wifi to the upstairs, hence going for the Nighthawk when we moved in.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers

My old Billion router looked like something out of the 1970's, but was the best router I have ever owned/used.

    100% reliable.
Great signal strength around the house.
And not locked down like most of the free routers are.
Now on 4G though so gave it to my neighbour.

Old tech nowadays compared with mesh systems etc, but as a home router it was fantastic.

The BT Smart 6 unit - has good penetration. Sure you could get one on EBay or BT?

I use a Draytek Vigor2860n . Super Quality with great range and reliability. It can do extra stuff if you are a bit tech savvy, port forwarding , bind IP etc

Just got off the online chat with BT, they have a new so call super duper router just released and are sending one out for free, will give it a go before splurging a couple of hundred quid out.

    Cheers!

If you end up buying one I second the Draytek suggestion: they are excellent, although there's a fair bit to configure. You can pick them up on ebay for a good price.

I have to say the new BT Smart Hub 2 seems pretty stable and solid!

Im not sure it’s worth the £100 asking price but for free it seems great so far, good strong Wi-fi throughout the house and stable connection!
